Are there any Amish people here that wish to comment on why they went back? Oh wait... nevermind.
They are set up to fail when they are let out into the real world. They have an 8th grade education, max. They lack general social skills because they've grown up in a sheltered life. They've never experienced the way they'd be treated by an average person, which is possibly construed as rude and bad. Most who leave come back...I haven't watched that video, but I've heard about this whole deal before. They can't adapt because they've been restricted from so much in their first 16 or so years.

However, though, beliefs must be respected. I hope he is satisfied with his choice.

Will he be segregated and looked down upon by his family and friends who chose to live the traditional Amish lifestyle?

I remember in grade school we visited the amish for a class trip over the weekend. Our class played basketball against one of their classes in the same grade. They murdered us, they didnt even let us score one pity shot. They held us to 0 points and were scoring non stop on us. That wasnt very amish of them. At least we got to go back home and watch tv and play our video games.

Why do beliefs have to be respected? Some do, but some are retarded.

Now, I didn't watch the video at all, I was just making a blanket statement about religion.

Respect the ones that don't do anything to mess with you. Its not like then Amish are bad, they aren't Scientologists with an agenda and the desire to bring down their opponents by ruthless and brutal means. They aren't killing like some zealots out there...so no point in not respecting what may seem stupid to us. Still, I think their whole deal is really fucking stupid, but do what you want, I guess, as long as it doesn't hurt me or affect my surroundings.
