American films depicting modern Japanese culture?

American films depicting modern Japanese culture?
I was wondering if anyone knew of any American films depicting modern Japanese culture. I'm bored as hell and for some reason want to watch a film of this nature. I've seen Lost in Translation (and thought it pretty much sucked) but are there any others that you guys know of? Examples may be "Black Rain" or that one with Snipes and Connery. I know those movies suck, but I was wondering if you have seen any that were decent. Hit me up soon, the video store closes in like 2 hours. THANKS!!!!

I know this isn't helping, but have you ever seen some of those American movies from the 1960's about Japan where American actors portray the Japanese characters? It's really funny. Marlon Brando was in one and there were all these huge Americans in kimonos with black wigs on and makeup on their eyes. There's always a group of local thugs up to no good carrying around staffs loooking to fight the GI's. It's so funny.

Kill Bill Vol. 1? That was on TV tonight, and it takes place in Japan.

Gung Ho is fucking hilarious, though it's about as accurate of a portrayal of japanese culture as beverly hillibillies is of the US. If you want an accurate American film depicting Japanese society, well I'm pretty much lost tho. I'd say books like the ones by Murakami do a good job of examining Japan from a more detached point of view.

"The Hunted" with Christopher Lambert. It does have a great train scene, lol. Yoko Shimada is always great.

"Wasabi" takes place in Japan w/ Jean Reno and Ryoko Hirosue... but it's French.

"The Last Samurai"... "Fast and Furious:Tokyo Drift " LOL!

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll just try to find a Japanese movie. I just hate all the horror shit. I like romance or drama, or just kind of quirky films when watching foreign movies. The cultural difference is often to great to enjoy comedies.
