American Staffordshire Terrier owners?

Anyone owned one of these dogs? What did you think of him/her?

The rescue group that I got my first dog from has one (they think that is the breed). It seemed to get along pretty well with my dog (although she was a lot more athletic than my dog which is to be expected). If anyone has any experience with them, I'd be curious what you thought (energy level, how active they are indoors, how they were around cats, health issues, temperament towards strangers/visitors, etc).
This dog is about 1.5 yrs old, about 55 lbs. She is fixed and showed no aggression even when we had both her and my dog lay down, and give them each a treat right next to each other. Neither dog got aggressive at all. In fact, since they're both kind of out of shape and somewhat submissive, they were laying on their backs a lot, with their faces near each other's nipping because neither dog wanted to be on top of the other (and they both tired out pretty quickly). It seems like a good dog and supposedly ignores cats at the home of one of the employees. She showed no interest in affection from people but I'm not concerned with having a lap dog.
So anyways, any knowledge anyone has about the breed from their own experience would be great. It's a big commitment, especially having a powerful breed like this one, so I am really trying to learn as much as possible.

edit: Here's a few pics of her - apparently some breeder saw her and pulled his car over while the rescue group was walking her (he hoped she wasn't fixed, which she of course is), because he said she looks like a "razor's edge" staffordshire terrier, but she doesn't look exactly like any pictures I saw of APBTs, AmStaffs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or English Bull Terriers. I would guess she's definitely a mix of those but she doesn't look exactly like any pictures I've seen of those breeds.

bah, just call em a pitbull.

edit: they're good dogs and very loyal... but you need to rule them with an iron fist. no means no 100% of the time... and the NiLiF(nothing in life is free) program eliminates most problems for strong dominant breeds.

they are pitbulls, but the difference between them and like an american pit bull terrier is pretty wide.

From what I've read, they have come from different bloodlines than APBTs since around 1930. However, there is one kennel club that will allow an APBT to be cross-registered as an AmStaff (or an AmStaff to register as an APBT, they only allow it one way or the other though).

In my area, this breed must be muzzled. Tomorrow morning I'm supposed to talk to the head of animal control and find out if that can be ignored once the dog passes basic obedience and the canine good citizenship certification. Hopefully that is the case.
I would never bring this dog to the dog park, as friendly as she is. If another dog picked a fight with her (very likely considering how often I see fights at the dog park due to stupid owners not seeing the warning signs) she could easily kill another dog and it would definitely be blamed on the "evil pit." Not worth taking the chance.
