Advice about dogs

Now, I'm thinking of buying a dog; it's gonna be my first dog and I have enough room for a dog. I don't wanto no small dogs, I want a dog that looks nice, but that can also defend me if necessary... Sort of a compromise between beauty and guard-dog...

Any recommendations? 'Cause the Golden Retriever is nice, but a total wimp; the Rotweiller is fierce, but ugly... There seems to be no compromise...

German Shepherd. They look really nice and you can have them around kids. But when it's go time they will bring it.

Just, for the love of god, don't buy a husky or a dog like that. Every time I see them in Spain I feel the urge to slap the owners. Northern dogs need cold.

Yes, besides, it's a very lonely dog... Not that much of a companion... I was thinking of the German Shepard too...

Good choice, I own two and they are wonderful animals.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

In the earlier parts of its history, the Rhodesian Ridgeback has also been known as Van Rooyen's Lion Dogs, the African Lion Hound or African Lion Dog—Simba Inja in Ndebele, Shumba Imbwa in Shona—because of their ability to harass a lion and keep it at bay while awaiting their master to make the kill.

I had one of these, had to give him to my dad due to lack of space here. He's an awesome dog.

I would have to agree with the German Shepherd. And they train fairly easily and are great with kids. Granted Dogs can be like people in that they all have different personalities but GerSHepherds tend to be very well tempered.

Doberman Pinscher was designed to be an office guard dog. Designed to stay under your desk and wreak shit when necessary.
