Has anyone read these books?

If yes what did you think of them?

I read Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance. Personally, I thought the book was quite good.

It's a very personal account of a man's journey while on a motorcycle trip with his son and two friends. It's a philosophical work, and yet those elements fit very well with the narrative.

If you've studied epistemology you might be more interested in this book. If you have any liking for Immanuel Kant, or David Hume, you might be especially interested in it.

While we're at it, what about this one:

I have and am considering reading it now, although I have a million popular physics books that I'd like to read too.

The Stranger is well worth it. Boring at the outset but it soon becomes clear that that's kind of the point, as the narrator in his divorce from what he views as false emotion borders on sociopathy. It's something everyone should read - once you've read it you'll find yourself mentally referencing it again and again.

That and Hesse's Steppenwolf are two of my favourites dealing the theme of the spiritual outsider.

i've read "zen" and "the stranger."

zen is aight. nothing earth shattering. meh a little pretentious.

the stranger, meh lol what an overrated piece. i don't find camus or sartre to be anything exceptional at all. maybe they're better in french.

I think this is who my sociology prof was talking about when he said that there's this sociologist who challenged a street gang leader to a fight and got his ass beat.
