I had a 2005 A4 Quattro for two years and it had zero problems. Its a quality car.

Volkswagens (Audi's parent company) in general DO have lots of quality issues, but that doesn't seem to extend to Audi.

A friend of mine had one. It was in the shop every other week. We gave him hell for driving that heap of trash. Proceed with caution.

I responded to this thread hours ago about my experience with my Audi. I went to the store earlier and the damn check engine light came on.

Just got back from the shop, and I have an appointment tomorrow where I'll be dropping around $700 on it in order to fix an emission problem, a faulty sensor, and it was time for an oil change, so that's in there as well. Labor prices on this car are unreal.

So TS, from one Audi owner to a prospective Audi buyer, don't do it!

my dad used to have an A4 back in the late 90's when they first started making sweet audis, and that is a stellar automobile. i've always loved rally style cars, so it's got that, and then the quattro is unreal, like you could be driving through an ice strom and you can't even purposefully make it lose control, and the handling is just really tight- like you do 130 in it and you feel like you're doing 80.

try to get one with a manual transmission and the 1.8T. i can't remember if the smaller engine was still the 1.8 then or if it was bigger already, but the smaller engine is the turbocharged one and more sporty feeling and fun to drive.

ps look into the years. vw/audi had a heyday and then at one point they moved production and their cars got really unreliable. i can't remember when they started getting liek that though.
