2 questions about antivirus software

1. Which one is the best?

2. How do you get rid of those annoying pop ups when you open up anything and it says "allow or block" I can't stand that, i want just to open up the internet without clicking yes or no all the time.

I use Avast! as an antivirus blocker. It's free and the link is in the sticky title "Best Free Apps on the Internet" at the top of Mayberry.

There's a lot of good shit in that thread.

As for the popups, I don't know. I just click the little red X on Firefox.

Avast. It's all you will need. I've never had a problem with it. And, never spent a dollar.

Your description of "allow or block" makes it sound like your dealing with a firewall component? What software are you using?

kaspersky

I have a router, so I don't really need firewall software, I just want an antivirus software, where I don't have to click block or unblock on everything I open up.

You use Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Antivirus?

Kaspersky is the best Antivirus out there by far and that is all you need.

Kaspersky Internet Security or anything Internet Security is crap

So it's the firewall.. well I don't use that particular software, but I imagine there must be some setting to "allow all" or something along those lines, in a configuration panel somewhere..

As far as which is best, that would be highly debatable. For free, most people will swear by Avast or Avira.. there's also PC Tools Antivirus (free as well).

Get rid of the Internet Security if you don't need a firewall, the antivirus on that is just a watered down weaker version of the stand alone antivirus.

The Kaspersky antivirus also protects against spyware.

If you need a firewall, combine Kav Antivirus with zonealarm firewall, not zonealarm internet security.

Install zonealarm first and disable its spyware protection so that it doesn't conflict with Kav Antivirus and then install Kav Antivirus.

This way you have the best of both worlds by having Zonealarm specialize in firewall protection only and Kav Antivirus handling malware only.

using Internet Security which combines both features into one actually weakens both features.

Zonealarm is the leader in firewall and Kaspersky is the leader in antivirus protection, but Zonealarm is not a good antivirus software and Kaspersky is not good with firewalls

Kaspersky and NOD32 are among the best antivirus software. In terms of software firewalls, ZoneAlarm and Comodo.

With that said, prevention > any security program. Don't download/open anything suspicious and you'll be fine. When I ran Windows, I had the software available just in case, but did not actively have antivirus/spyware running in the background.
