Computer Upgrade Question
I have a couple questions about upgrading my video card and my processor:
1. How do I know if my system will be compatible with a new video card and if it will fit in my case? My current card is Nvidia 7800GTX/256MB
2. My PC has a single-core Intel CPU/3.4GHz. Do they even sell single-core anymore or is everything now dual-core or multi-core? And if they are all multi-core now, would my motherboard be compatible?
My PC is a Dell XPS 600. About three years old now.

Um, depends on your motherboard. Does your motherboard have two PCI-E slots? If your vid card now works then most should, about the processor, I'm not sure.

Open the case - the motherboard details might be there. Or look in the BIOS.

If you don't know how to check what motherboard you have, how are you planning on upgrading your system?

by the sound of your card sounds like it uses PCI-Express slot.
what ever card you thinking of buying should work just make sure you have enough wattage going in the system.
