Icon4 Why are Japanese fighters hiesitant to put on muscle mass/strength training ?

AFter watching Bushido 10 , this sincere question comes to mind.

Especially when one looked at the Kondo/Baroni fight, Baroni was just too strong for Kondo to take down. He shrugged off his clinch as if Kondo was a little girl.

Why are japanese fighters not as muscular as their other counterparts ? WHy are they hesitant to train for strength.

I mean look at Fujita, he was a muscular fighter and he had some real aggressive fights. I mean, i dont see any japanese fighter except him give BOB SAPP a fight. Cuz fujita was strong.

I think Japanese fighters dont do enough strength training.

Yoshida is naturally quite strong. But apart from that look at othe guys like Saku, Kondo (Infact kondo said it himself after the IGOR fight that he lacked strength)...etc.

Check out Shooto.
There are tons of buff guys there for you to jack off to in the lower weight classes.
Also,Ryuta Sakurai looks like he trains his beach muscles quite a bit,
and he's hardly tearing shit up.
Having muscles like Baroni's might get you a spread in Playgirl, and it might make you gas,
but it won't make you a better fighter.

I'm going to guess culture. In Japan the women prefer slimmer guys vs muscular guys. My Japanese friend just doesn't understand the North American obssession with going to the gym.

i think its partly genetics, some of them lift but just dont get buff. Its not like you can't see any muscle on Kondo or Sakuraba. Gomi didn't get buff until Bushido 10, not that it means anything (maybe it does) but he killed everyone in his path as little Gomi and got choked out as jacked up Gomi. But yeah, the LWs japanese are very muscular and some of the HW's are buff/strong, then those in between like Chonan, Kondo, and Saku aren't as muscular. But yeah, Baroni was HUGE standing across Kondo.

Asians usually have very small frames.

Packing on too much muscle to a small frame = ......Do the math.

End of thread.
