Yeah, Yves was horrible at UFC 67 when he was standing guys up within seconds of it hitting the ground, but he has turned around 180 degrees and now he lets fighters decide fights better than any other ref.

Yves is currently my favorite, but Herb did well tonight. I don't like the second point deduction from Marquardt though, especially since it likely decided the fight.

Herb continues to improve. Since Big John left he is now the best ref in UFC.

The knee call was legit. He did a great job making sure that Leites recovered. The second point deduction was a bad call and made Marquardt lose the fight.

After watching all the illegal strikes that were allowed in the Pulver fight... this is a welcome change. Fighters are required to be under control. No matter if they are intentional or not. Fighters are supposed to adhere to the rules. It doesn't matter if the fighter is doing it because he is sloppy, out of control or throwing a million strikes.

Thank You Herb Dean!
I don't know about the Pulver fight. I remember a knee to the head while he was down, but I am not sure. i need to watch it again.

Dean is the best ref. He usually is right about when to step in.

i thought he did a pretty shitty job in this fight to tell the truth. he was gabbing way too much, constantly threatening point deductions for stupid little thing, but worse he wrongly took a point away from marquardt for a legal strike, then failed to penalize him for a head spike.

i can't remember for certain, but i think he also made a really bad error when someone reached out to push off the fence and he yelled out to stop grabbing it.
