Saku ***spoiler***

Saku was almost ktfo in the first.
He ended up being heavily punched with half his body hanging out the bottom rope, he definitely looked out.
The ref stopped it to re-start in the ring, but under any other circumstances, this would've been stopped completely......looks like they couldn't have Saku lose his debut.

Smirnovas ended up punching himself out and Saku slapped on an armbar.

After the fight, Saku admitted he couldn't remember half of it.

Yeah, with any other fighter the ref would have stopped it. Sak was out and just running on auto-pilot. K1 did everything in their power to lend him a hand and remarkably he came through. On the other hand Kestutis Smirnovas should be ashamed for not being able to finish a guy who was 90% out for half the round. Lucky for Sak that wasn't Wand or he would have been stomped into the grave.

I wonder if now that he can fight in his weight class he's decided he can go back to smoking, drinking, and not training with Chuteboxe.

I'm glad Sakuraba came out victorious. Samurai spirit to the bitter end.

WOW. I just watched this fight, Saku was out. And you're right, they did give him a second chance by restarting the fight. Even after that he looked like he was out a couple of times. But man, he just wouldn't give up. I can't believe he won that fight.

Let's face it.... he lost. In K-1 he won.... but in reality, he lost that fight by KO.

Pretty much. That fight should have been stopped during that GnP. The ref stopped the fight, saku recovered, and it was all downhill from there.

Sounds very similar to the Ken Shamrock incident...

Oh well I'm a huge Sakuraba fan so I'm gonna' roll with the victory. Sounds like he had a ton of heart to stick with it though and come through with the armbar.

Can't blame Saku for the Refs actions...

It looked like K1 wanted Saku dead.
