Is Saku punch drunk? *spoiler*

did anyone watch the press conference before the HEROS fight?

if you speak japanese, and have watched his past interviews, saku sounded like he was talking with slurred speach. his voice was very low and his talking was slow. he sounded like muhammad ali did at the end of his career. although, to his credit, saku was very sharp and witty as usual (also like muhammad ali).

now, after that last fight, i think he should consider retiring. i'm not saying that he has a brain condition, but if he does, that fight didn't help. that was a beating and a half....

did anyone who speaks japanese see the post-fight interview? how did he sound?

I'm sure we'll begin to see some messed up fighters in the next few years.

He might have been still dazed out from the KO he suffered. Link to the interview would be nice though...

There was no post-fight interview. Sakuraba did not even make it to the press conference the day after. Heros supervisor Akira Maeda said that Sakuraba was showing lingering signs of damage to the brain. An MRI was taken two days after the event, but those results have not been publicized and no one has seen everyone's favorite fighter since. This is not exactly a good sign.

Besides the head trauma, just look at the guy. Did he ever lose that many teeth in any previous fight? Not even against Vovchanchyn or Arona.

Say a little prayer, kids.

native-speaker. i know he's always been a soft spoken guy, but he sounded pretty crappy. he wasn't pronouncing his words clearly--and this was before the fight.

i hope to god that he retires after this...

don't be a martyr saku!!!

God how I hate this bullshit "warrior" mentality when it comes to taking unanswered punches to the head. So many "heroes" in boxing laid low by all those head shots, now MMA guys have to take it?

Saku needs to retire. Now. He should've retired 4-5 fights ago. That beating was sickening.
