OFFICIAL Bushido Grand Prix thoughts

for people complaining about Filho backing out and Misaki taking his place.

Grand Prix's are tournaments. They are about the last man standing. Who is the best survivor.

if Filho was too injured to continue because he got hurt during fight w/ Misaki, then he wasnt the last man standing or the survivor. Misaki imflicted enough damage to Filho that he could no longer continue. He's out. He doesnt deserve a "rain check" like Fedor got in 2004 because the injury was legit and not from an illegal headbutt that took place in the finals.

with that said, Misaki was not the last man standing either. He lost to Filho.

the replacement shouldve been gegard mousasi. Why have a replacement fight if you are not going to use replacements?

Mousasi vs. Kang shouldve been the finals.

OTHER THOUGHTS:

-Ishida is a beast but lacks KO power. His GnP is awesome and he will probably fight Gomi on NYE

-Gomi vs. Aurelio was dissapointing. Gomi looked hesitant and Aurelio did absolutely nothing other than get his takedowns stuffed. It should have been unanimous decision for Gomi but very dissapointing fight. It looked similar to Arona vs. Silva II. Aurelio wouldnt engage in standup, just went for takedowns, got stuffed, and then buttscooted.

-Shinya Aoki is amazing and will soon be champion. He will beat Gomi or Ishida. He has the attitude of a champion unlike Gomi and his ground game is too good for Gomi. Aoki will submit anyone.

-Kang had dominant position on Misaki... he was standing up ready to kick Misaki or stomp on him and the ref stood them up without giving him a chance to do anything. WTF!!!!? I thought this was MMA, not K1. 5 seconds later, Misaki lands a huge right punch that changes the outcome of the fight!

-Kang vs. Misaki was a great fight. Wouldve like to have seen it go to an extra round.

-Bustamante and Dong Sik were uneventful. Neither of them should ever be invited back to PRIDE.

-There is still no clear cut #1 ranked 185lbs fighter.

I tend to find myself clashing with you on many thoughts, but I found one I wholeheartedly agree on.

YES! That didn't make any sense. But Misaki pulled it out in the end and brought home the gold. Props to him.

i was glad Misaki was the replacement. i think that was completely fair. why should a guy who got eliminated in rd 2 take precidence over someone who survived to the semi-finals and was still ready and willing to fight after a loss? i'm not happy that Filho didn't get his chance to prove whether or not he was the champion. however, I was rooting for Misaki ever since the tourney started so him taking it was very gratifying too.

this Aoki looks like he'll become a fast rising threat to everyone in the lw division.

Yes there is, Matt Lindland. And if not, Anderson Silva.

drdeath, you are an idiot. Dont even reply. There is already a million threads on the mess of MW rankings right now.

Zach Arnold is also reporting that the judges who gave Misaki the decision were both Japanese and the judge who gave it to Kang was Matt Hume, who is American

he also said that Filho had torn ligaments in his knee.
