I rented this movie about a month ago and, like everyone has said, it's basically a remake of The Karate Kid.
I didn't like it. I thought the acting sucked. The main character was basically ... himself: he was good looking, athletic, and good with the ladies. Wow, what a stretch. The bad guy character over-acted his parts. Nothing he said was believeable or interesting. He was terrible in this. Then there's cliche characters like the obligatory side-kick, and the love interest. Nothing new or different, just the same 'ole thing.
And then there were unbelievable situations. Like, the main character getting into fights with total strangers off the street and NOT being arrested or expelled from his new school ... even AFTER it was posted in the internet?!
On top of that, it just seemed like this movie was trying to cash in on MMA and Youtube.
But the thing that annoyed me most about the movie was the endless plugs for the soundtrack. Almost every single time the movie went to a different scene, they'd blast a song from the soundtrack. It was very annoying.
Bottom line: I thought this was better than the Karate Kid ... but then again, I was never a fan of the karate kid.
