Nate is one that understands "Position before Submission" means.

GET THE POSITION, THEN GET THE SUBMISSION TO WIN! PERIOD!

You may eat alot of punches, kicks, elbows. etc.

This is what makes Nate a FIGHTER! BTW in case you forgot, the reason why he's TUF champ!

Nate knows you have to take a beating sometime. Many don't realize that aspect.

People are saying "Why did Nate flip off the camera before Kurt tapped?"

BECAUSE NATE IS WELL TRAINED AND KNEW THE POSITION WAS ONE KURT COULDNT GET OUT OF!

MMA fans , and even some who claim they train? In many cases?

Are fu ll of shit.

Either that or their coaches suck

A Martial Arts, Stockton if you wanna train.
LMAO.. Man Nate is good at bjj.. but he did nothing to gain any position throughout that fight. Kurt easily transitioned from guard to side control.
The place where nate can be given props his maintaining his cool while kurt went for a slam. That was really good... Take the slam away and kurt wins by stoppage later that round or in the 3rd. It was almost stopped the round before. He wanted to show off. In doing so, he gave Nate a chance. It was like Michael Nunn deciding that he could stand with Toney when he already had the fight in the bag. Entertaining.. but risky. He paid the price.

im not too sure about that...nathan has tapped wrestlers who've dominated most of the fight also nathan was never hurt bad. only cut and a very bad cut at that.

maynard comes to mind. hell though its not a fight and just sparring Gilbert Melendez would be another example. Watching those guys spar every once in awhile I've learned why Nathan is so damn good on his back. Shields and Melendez are wrestlers first and im not discrediting their JJ game. then again you and i know sparring isn't fighting. i think you know what im getting at.

Kurt made a few mistakes a BB shouldn't make and truthfully it was disappointing Nathan is one of the best of taking advantages of mistakes.

many refs would have stopped that fight in favor of Kurt. nate seems to always take a beating, much like big nog. when kurt had side control with ates left arm trapped between his legs he was really pooring it on and i was shocked that it wasn't stopped. i am glad the fight went on and pleased to see nate pull out another fantastic finish.

I dont think so at all - firstly I really enjoyed the first round - kurt was the aggressor and got the advanrage and did damage on a couple of occasions, however much of the round was nate defending properly and effectivly kurts pressure. Also Kurt being a black belt in Jui jitsu I am sure knows that when you slam someone who knows what they are doing you open yourself up to being caught in a bad positin. JJ is about position and control- when you slam someone like that you risk losing both. Kurt knows this- therefore it was a mistake on his part and great work by nate to capitilze on it. You cant make mistakes like that and expect to win- and any fighter worth his salt should capitilize on that. Nate showed great heart and composure to stay in the fight and pull a great sub. To categorize this as a fluke is simply wrong- and those that are doing here know that its not the case but your agenda is to discredit a fighter who pulled a great win- maybe you dont liek nate or his attitude or maybe you are a KP fan, but you know that Diaz is a seriously talented jj practitioner who is able to hold his own and pull wins against hight belt levels- great fight!

also...nate used his foot to push off the cage when he was on kurt's shoulders...i just re watched the fight.

nate forced kurt to lose his balance.

as far as the stoppage goes...nate didn't go limp or get knocked out like houston so why would the fight be stopped there?
Also even with his arm trapped nate was still moving his other hand to escape. He wasn't in the position that lauzon was in as it was a position he could get out of.
