Big Nog has good boxing and good ground. He also isnt as dependent on mistakes. He is just clearly better on the ground and out grapples his opponents.

Nate Diaz actually has it.

Position before Submission

Kurt Pelligrino should take a few lessons.
It was a slam gone wrong. Kurt clearly demonstrated superior Jiu Jitsu up until that point.

Superior Jiu Jitsu in getting caught in a simple Triangle that they teach to 8 year olds?

Come on.

Position before submission.

If Kurt (no disrespect), knew what position he was in? He wouldnt have gotten caught.

Things happen when you're winning easily. I can show you countless clips of superior boxers getting knocked out because they got bored and got sloppy.

You can break down just about every single exchange on the ground and Kurt is getting the best of it easily until he tried to show off with the slam.

I say outwrestled nate more than JJ. Nate was the one with the transitions throughout the fight. Even when he was getting GnP'd.

i knew it was a matter of time before kurt got owned. true he had nate layed out getting pounded to the face but he couldn't finish! nate's ground game is far better than that of Pellegrino.

you know you've owned someone when you can just raise your arms in victory as you're squeezing the crap outta his neck!

People take "Position before Submission" as meaning you're not gonna get hurt along the way. The problem with SOME pussified MMA fighters these days is that they think if they land a few elbows, and look pretty they'll win.

Nate is one that understands "Position before Submission" means.

GET THE POSITION, THEN GET THE SUBMISSION TO WIN! PERIOD!

You may eat alot of punches, kicks, elbows. etc.

This is what makes Nate a FIGHTER! BTW in case you forgot, the reason why he's TUF champ!

Nate knows you have to take a beating sometime. Many don't realize that aspect.

People are saying "Why did Nate flip off the camera before Kurt tapped?"

BECAUSE NATE IS WELL TRAINED AND KNEW THE POSITION WAS ONE KURT COULDNT GET OUT OF!

MMA fans , and even some who claim they train? In many cases?

Are fu ll of shit.

Either that or their coaches suck

A Martial Arts, Stockton if you wanna train.

Was the hostility directed towards me? I was complementing his JJ. No doubt Kurt won the first round, That can't be debated and he won it with GnP. Nate was still working but bottom line...he lost the round.

Nathan is very calm when in danger...never really worries. Its what i meant when i said even when he was getting GnP'd he was still grabbing wrists and was solid in not letting Pelligrino choke or lock him up. I think he was setting Kurt up for a kimura in the first but I'd have to see the fight again to confirm that.

Nate's transitions were and always have been beautiful. He's always moving a step ahead. Though he was taken down when he tried to strike. Taken down I believe 3 times in the fight. So yea...his wrestling wasn't as good as Kurt's. Thats the truth but like you said catching a wrestler out of position ends the night.

Also why would I go to Stockton when I was at Phill for a year and starting back up here in SF? M
