Misaki vs. Coleman GP 2000 Win = Kang Champ

Think about this.... During the 2000 GP Fujita could not fight mark coleman because of an injury sustained in the bout Vs. Kerr. So coleman got a freebe and went on to fight Igor. So after seeing Pride put the loser to Filho - Misaki in the finals... they should have put Kerr in against Coleman back in 2000. This is 6 years apart... but I really dont see how Pride could screw this over so much. They syhould have done what they did to Coleman and Kang would be a paper champ.

Thoughts???

Fujita stepped up and fought. Big difference there. In a tournament every fighter will fight hurt in the last matches, it just changes how bad you are hurt.

thats stupid, the fact that they did that with Coleman shows how new they were to the game back then.

I would have liked to have seen the reserve match used as this same shit happened in K1 when Hoost lost to Sap then went on to win the next two after Sap dropped.

Actually, Wanderlei Silva would have taken Fujita's place. However, Fujita didn't withdraw from injury, and was able to enter the ring somehow. I thought this was common knowledge. It's nothing whatsoever like what you propose in your post.

For the haters, this kind of thing has happened in K-1 before, and let us not forget the infamous Steve Jennum UFC win. This is a problem inherant in multi-fight-in-one-night tornaments.

The difference being that Fujita had won his fight and wanted to continue. Fihlo did not.

Please do not compare the 2.

Coleman did not lose in the 2000 GP.

Unlike Misake who got arm barred in this GP.

I totally agree that what happened with Coleman and Fujita was complete BS. Fujita didn't want to fight at all. Right when the match started he shot in for a takedown and his corner threw in the towel. He just wanted to collect the bonus for making it into the final 4. Vovchanchyn got screwed!!
