Here is the Play by Play:
att Wiman (Pictures) vs. Thiago Tavares (Pictures)
Round 1
The fights starts with wild scrambles for position and both fighters going for submissions. Tavares takes the top position, where he stays and lands punches for the duration of the five-minute opening period. 10-9 Tavares.
Round 2
The second round starts much different from the first, with both fighters landing hard punches. The fight goes briefly to the floor courtesy of the Brazilian, but Wiman stands back up. Wiman then lands a stiff right hand that stuns Tavares. Another right hand puts Tavares out cold at 1:57 of the second round.
I went to high school with Matt. We both trained at Mikeys gym when he was just getting started. I was actully in the corner of his opponent at matts first fight in Tulsa. Needless to say everybody back in oklahoma is very proud of Matt. He is seriously underrated!!! Back in the day I remember he used to own Daavid heath on the groud despite the the huge weight differnce. By the time he was twenty he could control or sub everybody in the gym. For me this was the fight of the afternoon!
