Ivan Salaverry was one of the top ten 185lbs fighters 3 years ago. It's impressive to read comments from ignorant sherdogers saying they’re not impressed by him. Are you freaking kidding me! Let’s take the noobs back and teach them some history on the HOOK AND SHOOT champ and former K1 kick boxer.

) Back in UfC 37 he was the first fighter ever to display the high side control, trapping one arm with his legs and the other with his head as he punched sambo expert Andrei Semenov to a win. Not to mention he is the only fighter in UFC history to submit anyone with the back-crack body lock. Wow and don’t let me forget he also, up kicked Joe Rigs in the face and almost knocked him out with that. And last and not least he hang with Olympic silver medalist Matt Linland for 3 rounds with out taking any damage or being submitted. Let’s not underestimate this man who has world class kick boxing from former UFC champ Maurice Smith and comes from a background in pancrase taught by the legendary Matt Hume. Tell me if you are still not impressed…….He began his career training side by side with one of his best friends Josh Barnett who is the one of the masters of toe locks and leg locks so let’s not think Mr. Salaverry is a stranger to this lands. Ivan makes trips once in awhile to big bear to train with the punishment team along side Tito Ortiz, Matt Hamill, Dean Lister and Kit Cope. You can check out his rigorous work out in the DVD 7000 ft published by punishment athletics. For those who have met Ivan you all know he is an awesome person and respectful fighter. I think he has gotten the end of the stick by the UFC. After his lost to Nathan Marquardt at the Ultimate fight night Dana White told him to go crawl back from the whole he came from do to his poor performance that night. But wait ….wasn’t Mr. Marquardt the one who tested positive for steroids after that fight. Yea we all seem to forget that Mr. White brought Marquardt back to fight Joe Doerksen with out any consequences while the clean fighter gets screwed over. I will miss Ivan’s after his last fight at UFC 84. I whish he will be remember as one of the top fighter to ever step in that cage by all the fans and true sherdogers that take the time to read this.
