I like Mark, so I wasn't annoyed by the praise he was getting - just baffled by it. It should have been blatantly obvious this would happen as soon as they gave him somebody that would think better than to strike with him.

Barnett is the wurst possible mathcup for Hunt. Even Werdum and Rodrigo should be easier targets, that's because Josh carries alot of weight to control Hunt and his submissions are more simple thus effective against Hunt.
I wonder what my sig says, Barnett should certainly make #4 now.

Ya'll are some bitches.
Hunt looked just as good against Barnett as Sylvia did against Mir.
Give the guy a break.
Just because he loses by sub against a former UFC heavyweight champion and quite possibly one of the best on earth, that doesn't mean he's 'just a kickboxer' or 'clueless on the ground.'
Flash subs happen.
Give the guy a few more matches before you write him off as worthless.
Especially when hes beaten Mirko, TK, and Wand.
Barnett might turn out to be this years Shogun.
I suppose Rampage was worthless too?

mark hunt is still a top heavy weight, he just came out unlucky that Barnett is a ground specialist. The thing with hunt is he always has a punches chance with any fighter because of his k-1 history, personally i thought barnett was going to come and try standing with Hunt as he has done before on numerous occasions but to Josh's credit he knew about Hunt's limited ground game and applied that strategy in the fight. Hunt has some good ground coaches but he can be lazy at times when it comes to training, but Mark can only improve from here and i assure he'll be back chasing after the pride belt...
i got to give props to barnett because he fought very strategic fight against Hunt, i really thought there was going to be more stand up in the first round and that's where i thought Hunt would have his chance in winning the fight. Josh looked really determined for the fight, u could see the seriousness on his face in the match, while mark was having a few laughs here and there. Hunt will learn from his mistakes as he had to do in K-1 when he had losses to JLB, etc then came back to win the world K-1 gp title, hopefully he come's back better than ever with some better ground defence...
for a guy to have wins in pride over wanderlei and crocop is an accomplishment in itself

I agree, as someone said i belive Barnett is probably the thoughest opponent for Hunt because of his great take downs and good control. But i still belive it was a flash sub and a rematch today could def. go the otherway. And eventually i am sure he will get another chance to prove this.

Props to Barnett for fighting a smart fight beacuse the chances of anyone beating Hunt standing are slim to none.
LMAO at ppl who thought Hunt would have Nog.
I can't see how Hunt can be condsidered a top 5 HW with a performance like that.
I'm glad Hunt is out of the OW GP, it's clear he didn't belong in the top remaining few.
WAR BARNETT!!!!

Give the guy a break, every fighter loses man and in all ways....G&P/knockouts/subs. Barnett had the proper game plan and he beat Hunt but for the peanut gallery experts to come out now and proclaim "they new it all along" is so laughably typical of sherdog. Everyone said Hunt would lose to Wandy and he didn't, then eveyone said he would lose to Cro Cop and he didn't. Well eventually in MMA if you keep saying someone will lose they will because its inevitable. I want to be clear I am not trying to be a jerk, its just almost unreal how it works around here when a fighter finally loses after several incorrect predictions.

I'm not saying that I disagree with you, but still, I really do think that a lot of these people honestly thought that Hunt had little chance of winning (some are just bullshitting I know). Look at his record, he has only beaten one legitimate grappler, and has never even fought one who could be considered top tier until now. To say that Hunt is a legitimate HW who can kick some serious ass is accurate, but to say that he was ever top 5 is simply absurd, as he has only fought guys who give him favorable matchups as of late.
What you have to keep in mind is that there were people who thought that Hunt could beat Fedor. Hunt deserved (and still does deserve) some hype, but the amount that he recieved before this fight was just absurd. The MMA world needed this fight because it brought Hunt back down to earth, as all should've expected.

When the fight hit the ground Hunt was flopping around like a dead fish. He is clueless on the ground. This wasn't a slick quick submission. It was a muscled Kimura that anyone saw coming a mile away.
Sure he beat Mirko, TK, and Wand but they all tried to trade with him and when they did have him on the ground he was dominated.
Reality is Hunt is just a Kickboxer and a compleatly one dimmensional fighter. He was hoping he could learn to sprawl and that would be enough but it sure wasn't.

Well, props to you for a well thought out and well explained response. I agree with much of what you said I always had him just outside the top 5 heavyweights but thought (and still think) he is very dangerous. If he keeps working on that ground game his potential is immeasurable. Honestly, its more just that I feel truly feel for fighters on this board sometimes. Its like people just can't wait for someone elses failure....don't know if its low self esteem or what......weird lol
