Prime Royce wouldn't be top 10 in MMA noadays, in any weight class. No Gracie would.

how good is this joyce gracie???? just kiddin i agree wiith everything you said

I also think so. If Royce kept the same game of old UFCs (=unidimensional) he wouldn't succeed at all, even if he was in his prime. MMA has evolved just too much. Maybe, if he did some serious cross-training..... but that's pure speculation.
Concerning the other Gracies, maybe Renzo could be a force nowadays if he was 15 years younger. He's the most well-rounded Gracie.

He was one dimensional, thats true, but i think most people are looking at Royce circa the matt hughes or even sakuraba fights. They say speed is the first to go in a fighter, so for a not so strong guy like joyce, he needed all the speed he could get. I think he had lost alot of his speed, shooting and on the mat, after his layoff when he first fought sakuraba. When i talk about joyce gracie as a legend im refering to his ufc days. I think a prime Joyce would have given matt & sakuraba MUCH harder times on the Mat, but we'll never know for sure.

Why do you keep calling him Joyce?
I realt don't think he could have beaten Hughes or Sakaraba, even in his prime.
Right now, there arn't any gracies that need to be in the UFC, none of them are top fighters.
I have high hopes for Roger though. The marketing for him practically writes itself; "the return of the gracie family to the octagon..."
