Gracies in UFC? - Page 3

Roger Gracie is known to have the best Jiu Jitsu out of everyone in every weight.

He has no striking skills and under the current MMA rules with the referees saying to go up and every round being so short... Its like when K-1 changed the rules and true muay thai fighters like Buakaw suddenly couldnt compete anymore.

By the way.
Last Sunday Rickson Gracie was live on brazilian national television and announced that he will fight in the second season of 2008 against Sakuraba on Japan. He was seriously talking about this and brazilian mma foruns are taking this seriously aswell.

This is one of my pet peeves. People act like it was done especially to limit Buakaw after he beat Masato. However, you'll find that K-1 had already had the rule change for a few years. MAX was simply catching up.

WTF??? Buakaw won the GP the year before the rule change AND the year after the rule change!

And I´ll believe Rickson when I see it, plus this fight is no longer interesting due to Sakuraba being a totally shot fighter physically.

It's worth the effort for a japanese promoter to fork over hundreds of thousands of dollars for a Gracie, ANY Gracie, but in the US nobody's going to tune in just for that last name. The US audience needs more.

I´d LOVE to see more Gracies in the UFC but they don't seem to be all that interested.

gracie's bring in cash but I think its not worth the fight for them thats why royce is reduced to fighting cans or taking steroids to beat saku

what i think is ironic about the Gracies (who i love and respect by the way) is that when they created the UFC to show the world that bjj was the greatest hand to hand martial art they succeeded, but they also gave other martial artists who were naturally gifted athletes the tools for countering bjj. Don't get me wrong. it is obvious that bjj is a fundamental aspect of mma, however is dominance as a style has died. it is just another aspect of mma now.
