Kawajiri's side choke was the closest anyone came to finishing the fight.

And yes, a fighter who has only gone to decision 5 times in his 21 wins is boring.

He would at least get stood up more often.

My problem is that Pride had a cloud over them for rigged fights/gangsters etc so you think that the new org would have steered clear and made damn sure that everything was legit. Including non questionable match making (obvious gimmes)

Then again Fedor was a gimme for Crazy Horse back in the day :-)

I agree with this.
Kawajiri had 'positional dominance' but I think he only landed about 12 shots the whole fight and had a long list of failed submission attempts.

Gill probably landed somewhere in the vicinity of 80 hits. Elbows to the collarbone, punces to the ribs, punches to the face, a couple of knees to the head.

The TDs weren't powerful ones where the fight could be stopped by it.
If Kawajiri actually attacked more when he had acquired the top position he might've won the fight in my book. Or he might've had to shift his weight where Gill could've escaped the position.

I was annoyed by Trigg saying 'clearly Kawajiri is dominating' and 'clearly Kawajiri will win a unanimous decision.'

Was the English commentary done live?
Or was it done later, as was often done with Pride?
He could've known the results and done his commentary where the result sounded likely, plausible.

(sorry I just finished watching the fight and was annoyed and wanted to vent)
