will MMA ever suprass WWE?
I am a big MMA fan and believe that each year it's getting stronger and more popular- I honestly believes it is more popular than boxing. However, this past weekend was Wrestlemain and they set an indoor attendance record of over 83,000 people- in fact wrestlemania outdrew the SuperBowl in attendance(they were held in the same venue)- the PPV buyrates have yet to be posted, but the early sources indicate numbers that would be triple or quadrupled any event that pride or uFC have promoted. Of course WWE is a staged event, but there are few people who think that MMA will never draw the money or the fans of WWE. Keep in mind that Vince Mcmahon had considered purchasing pride. What do you guys think? Will the names CroCop, Lidell, Hughes, Rampage ever become as popular as hogan, the Rock, or Austin????

I hope it doesn't. MMA does not need retarded, dumbass fans chanting "DDT!" or "Powerbomb the mofo!" at fight events.

Dude, whenever I watch a Rampage fight, I'm constantly yelling "Powerbomb him!" lol not really but in my head I'm hoping for one.

Go get a list of PPV buys for the past year. Overall UFC is beating WWE. I can't imagine why this particular Wrestlemania would get 3 to 4x the best UFC buy rate -- that would be 3 to 4 million people, which is unlikely at best.

I think it caters to very different audiences.
IMO, you really can't be a true fan of both. they just clash.
in the end, i think it will depend on the people's desire for sensationalism vs realism.
I pick realism, but a lot of people are attracted to fantasy. They create personas in WWE and after a while, you get to feel like you really know that guy. That's not the main focus of MMA.
In a way, the two businesses are really difficult to compare/contrast.

no it wont. The wwe is a juggernaut, and its grossings are too rediculous. It has too many options that mma doesnt have, like multi-weekly shows with the same good stars, action figures (maybe the ufc can start these, but they definetly wont be as successful). There are too many options for the videogames that the mma companies (ill just say ufc from now on because im sure thats what you mean) dont have. The WWE has its own channel, a very very good website (ufc.com sucks imo...) and tons of nostalgia that the ufc has but is clouded by the fact that it was totally no holds barred. My answer is no, but hell i'd like to see it obviously.
