What if Machida loses?

WHat would happen to Machida if tito beat him? Im sure the ufc is counting on him to send tito out with a loss. This situation reminds me of when Arlovski was in his final fight against Jake O'Brien, who was also undefeated. O'Brien lost, and was released by the ufc. Not saying this will happen to Machida, but I dont think he'd be getting any big fights anytime this year. Although O'Brien and Machida are on 2 completely different levels, keep this in mind: They've both have reputations for being boring fighters(we all know how the ufc feels about that) They both fought/fighting 2 major stars in the last fights of their contracts, and I really dont know what the ufc would do, but I wouldnt be surprised if they cut Lyoto because, A- he's not a draw @ all in the us, B-his style isnt always fun to watch, and C-If tito whoops him, who would they match him up with?? Lyoto's a tough fight for ANYONE, and lets face it, I dont think the ufc would want to risk any of their contenders against a guy who just lost to tito ortiz(Im sure whoever tito signs with would capitalize on that win)

If Machida loses, the UFC doesn't lose anything. Tito gets a better deal elsewhere (which he would have regardless) and Machida stays mired in obscurity.

This was the best option the UFC had. They put their old poster boy against a nobody (in the current UFC fan's eyes) and they get the benefit of the extra draw and no loss to any of their current poster boys.

Nothing happens to Machida. I don't even think his name belongs in the same sentence with Jack O'brien. They'll play it off and things will go back to the way they were for Machida. He poses alot of problems for people at that weight. I think stylistically.....this may be one of the biggest testing grounds for Machida in the entire UFC 205 lb division.

There are 2 big differences here.

A) Machida is still 10x more entertaining then O'brien was. Also a lot more well rounded fighter.

B) They won't release Machida if he looses or else they most likely wouldn't put the fight on the Main Card. Dana is looking forward to Tito loosing in the public. If he had any thought that Tito would win or cared if he won and was planning on releasing the Machida if he lost. He wouldn't put 2 possible leaving fights on the Main Card.
