The Ultimate Sherdogger Season Three:
After last seasons entertainment and trash talking (and occasionally the odd battle) between Guardaian and BBQ garnered worldwide praise and record ratings, it has been decided to bring the top rated show The Ultimate Sherdogger back for a third season. Akin to past seasons we will be mixing up the best up-and-coming fighters in the betting threads along with seasoned professionals.
The show will work as follows:
There will be two coaches this year, and each will pick 8 participants from the opening pool of 16 fighters. A pick’em will be held between the two coaches at the first event to determine who gets first choice in the draft and who gets the first choice of fight. The winner of the pick’em will have the choice of 1 or the other with the other coach getting the other option.
The fight for each show will be determined by the winning coach/team of the last show.
Example: Matt Serra gets to pick the first fight, if his fighter loses the first fight, then Matt Hughes gets to pick the next fight. If Serra’s fighter wins, then he gets to pick the next fight.
Each fight in the show (including the opening coach pick’em) will be scored using old-school pick’em rules, where points are scored on the place of the fighter (9 through 1 generally) and 4 points for the fighter winning. Method and rounds will count as tie-breakers.
The final of this season is the exception to the above, and will be scored using standard SPC rule.
In the event of a tie-break situation points from Methods and rounds will be tallied with the tie-break score and the fighter with the overall score will progress.
Picks from coaches should be in no later than 2 days before the start of the event and sent to me, in the event of a no-show, an alternate will be used. If no alternates can be sourced then the fighter who sent their picks in will progress.
Rather than tie the fighters up to using their variables, I will leave it up to the fighters whether or not they wish to bet on a variable. This should be agreed with both parties and acknowledged when sending in picks. The fights will only count towards sig/av records IF A VARIABLE IS BET UPON.
The 1st event will be UFC 80 (the next UFC) in which the coaches will battle for their preference. The draft will take place almost immediately following that event, and the 1st fight will take place at the Ultimate Fight Night on the 23rd of January. Subsequent fight dates will be announced shortly.
Finally, The winner of this seasons ultimate Sherdogger will be awarded a title shot. This shot will come at the first UFC Pay-Per-View after the final has taken place. (This has been agreed with HellaCopter)
