According to the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, a highly-ranked UFC official said that the company no longer plans to ignore WWE's public "challenges."

While UFC let Angle's storyline "open challenge" to anyone from a 4-, 6- or 8-sided ring go unaddressed, it will not be doing that in the future. If WWE attempts to put one of its wrestlers over as superior to MMA fighters, it will respond to put public pressure on WWE to make the match happen.

"Now that we have exposure, we're not going to be ignoring stuff like this. We'll go public and have Chuck Liddell accept any public challenges or claims they'll make," the source said.

Lets seperate all Pro Wrestling vs MMA, cause they are 2 very different things. And as someone said, the challenge was just an angle (storyline) or promo. something like that

Well, I also believe a recent PPV (Novemeber's Survivor Series, I believe) had a few things that were taken from MMA, and the Undertaker/Angle main event supposedly was done in the "Worked shoot" style ala what I believe RINGS was before it became a legit MMA promotion.

They know that a healthy Kurt Angle could mop the floor with any of their fighters. Therefore, UFC should just shut up and realize that mixed martial arts and professional wrestling are two different entities and should be focused on as such.

I would have loved to see a young Kurt Angle in the UFC or Pride. If he dedicated himself to training for MMA, I think he could've been a great fighter.

They are living in a fantasy world (which is what pro wrestling is). I give all the credit in the world to the athletes that do pro wrestling, but its completely choreographed and planned from the beginning. and that guy that wrote that column obviously believes what he writes (moron.). but the simple fact is, without any training at all, about all pro wrestlers would lose a fight in MMA, and in quite a devistating fashion

There will always be simularities between pro wrestling and MMA as far as what certain moves are called, or submissions or whatever. but thats because both of them deal with the aspect of combat. MMA is just real combat while pro wrestling isn't.

Seems kind of childish. However, my childish side would love to see a famous pro-wrestler get spanked. I'm so conflicted.
