UNCF- began funding when the question of race came into play on college scholarship applications and most colleges were segregated at that time ALL scholarships were reserved for white students
miss BA- until 1983 there had never been a black miss america in 53 years of the pagaent
so it was miss white america until that point.miss black america was started in 1968 and ran for 15 years before a black women was enetered in to the miss america pag .. and now serves as a scholarship pagaent for young black women.
