Violation of privacy is definitely serious, and the guy should be punished for that.
I'm just beefed because of shit like the guy who took pictures of his little kids running around and playing at the beach. The kids got naked in some of the pictures, and when he got the pictures developed, the photoperson saw the negatives of the pictures and reported him as a child pornographer. He was arrested and eventually acquitted, but getting your name in the paper with the title "child pornographer" next to it causes irreparable damage.
Even if you read the story, the acquittal, and understood the whole thing, wouldn't you still be somewhat uneasy with the guy being around you kids?

Pretty hard to defend this guy, but...our society is filled with a bunch of hypocritical witch hunters. The fact is, the internet has been a sewer for the last 15 years, and truthfully, anyone who's been on the net for that long has seen something they shouldn't have. That said, there has to be detering punishment out there. People fucking around and making illegal and borderline illegal shit should be made an example of.
