Regardless of the fake aspect of wrestling it is not easy. The body takes a huge amount of punishment on a regular basis. The funny thing is that you will not find people bad mouthing ever action movie that comes out because the stunts were fake..lol Wrestlers are professional stuntmen, but the difference is instead of doing one 30 sec shot they are doing 10-15 min matches almost every day without healing time, and they only get one take.

Yes, the TNA/WWE wrestling in America is garbage; a soap opera in a ring.

I've been lucky enough to watch some pro-wrestling from Japan and it is a damn site more entertaining due to the realism vs the blatant fakery of the WWE.

i have no problem with pro-wrestlers in MMA as long as they have a background in some form of it beforehand like Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle do....they have backgrounds in actual wrestling and if im not mistaken Rob Van Dam and CM Punk also have a blackbelt or 2....i have no problem with guys like this coming into MMA but if they dont have a background then they'll be absolutely demolished....if a "main eventer" like say Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena or even The Undertaker came in....they would be embarrassed cause they would know absolutely nothing about whats going on

Well, obviously they would train with a camp before they fight/fought....the don't just walk in and start using pro-wrestling moves, and Mark Calloway (the undertaker) is a huge fan of MMA and says it is his favorite sport.

WWE is entertainment. MMA is a sport. They don't even belong in the same discussion. I respect WWE types as entertainers, same as I respect Jerry Seinfeld or George Carlin, for example. If they want respect as athletes, they should compete in a sport where Vince McMahon doesn't decide outcome. I think what WWE guys do is pretty brutal on their bodies, but it doesn't make them athletes. They're like high paid rodeo clowns. I have no doubt many WWE guys have the physical ability to compete in MMA and do well with the right training. But, until they 'nut up' and actually do so, it's pure speculation. I think Lesnar will be moderately successful at some point, but there will definitely be a transition period. Who knows how he'll react to a Cro Cop kick, big Nog submission, or a Arlovski right hand on the jaw. On the plus side, it seems like we'll get to see soon enough. I'm no Mir 'hugger but I think Lesnar gets subbed. Tough matchup for any 1st time MMA'er.

Dean Milenko got Ken Shamie other things when they were wrestling back in the day. Why do you think he was the "man with a thousand submissions" or something like that? Josh Barnett and tons of other fighters were pro wrestlers first.

Pro wrestling is not athletic competition, but it is athletic exhibition. While it is entertainment, (so are all spectator sports, by the way,) but there is a distinct difference between a pro wrestler and a TV comedian.

A gymnastics routine is choreographed and scripted, are gymnasts not athletes? The point of this thread is not whether or not pro-wrestling is a legitimate sport, because we all know it isn't. The point is that pro-wrestlers are athletes, and many of them have the ability to excel as MMA fighters (with the proper training).

worst part about it is that pro wrestling used to be the shit. Now its gone overboard. And with an organization named tna (total nonstop action)-who the hell is going to take pro wrestling seriously
