I had a once in a lifetime experience this weekend. I have been training at a gym in Glendale, AZ named The LAB for about 4 months. It didn't take long before I got hooked on BJJ classes. This new gym is an amazing facility. Royce Gracie is one of the owners and he paid a visit this Friday & Saturday to the gym along with Grand Master Helio Gracie. Go to this link to see the photos (

I also had a chance to meet Dan Severn, who stopped in on Friday because he was fighting in Northern Arizona. Very nice guy, talked with him for a while. Also, Alvin "Kid" Robinson was there. He will be fighting Kenny Florian at UFC 73. Also a very nice guy, had a nice conversation with him too.
The highlight of the weekend was 2 one-hour classes taught by Royce and Grand Master Helio. It's amazing that a man of GM Helio's age could roll with Royce but he did! He also was not holding back, trying to finish moves and joking with Royce that maybe they should get a stronger person for him to roll with! I hope to be half as active as Helio if I am lucky to achieve his age.
