Icon4 OFFICIAL UFN 8/Strikeforce/Cage Rage Sig/Av Betting Thread

ORDERS OF BUSINESS...PLEASE READ

1.) All bettors may place bets on each variable on BOTH the combined Strikeforce/Cage Rage card AND the UFN card.
2.) To my knowledge, the tourney continues on the UFN card...the remaining 4 participants may send their picks in to either Momentosis or myself.
3.) The Sherdog Sig/Av Betting Title is back on the line on the UFN card. To address some concerns presented last time, the challenger DOES NOT need to reveal his picks for the event until the champion has made his four championship picks. And you know the drill now regarding the 48-hr challenging period.
4.) Make sure to check the board as close to fight time as possible to address any discrepancies there might be with the listed bets.
5.) PLEASE take a look at the next couple posts after the main one...there are some exciting opportunities coming up and a chance to vote on something

Rules / How To:

- You must send me a PM with your bet in order for me to confirm it and place it on page 1, please send it under the following format:

richieb19 (fighter's last name) Vs. Kayo (fighter's last name), Av bet

- You may bet your signature, avatar, location and/or custom text.
- You must determine the duration of the betting consequences before the bet with your opponent. If you do not, all bets will last till the next UFC/PRIDE FC event, unless the winning bettor says otherwise.
- You may not bet your Sig/Av/Loc/CT if it has already been lost in an other event (unless agreed upon).
- All winners will be highlighted in light blue on page 1.
- You may keep your Betting Record in your signature even if it has been lost (i.e. 5-1-0).
- You may have special bets (Sig 4 Av), possibility of draw (*), and other imaginative bets, but only bets wherein your variable is on the line may be counted in your record..
- This thread will be stickied with 2 days remaining to the event, and 1 day after.
- If an opponent fails to keep up his end of the bet, PM me and I will no longer allow his bets.
- The Champion will post 4+ picks, if you wish to challenge him/her for the title of Sherdog Champion, you must do so within 48 hours after the thread is posted...at the end of this time, the challenger with the best W/L Ratio is #1 Contender. Challenger must have a 2:1 record ratio with a minimum of 10 wins (draws count as a half-win). A challenger who fails to defeat the champion in his title shot must wait 3 months before challenging again.
-There will only be single bets allowed per variable (for example, no multiple sig/av/loc bets). Single bet means only once per THREAD, not per EVENT on the thread, unless otherwise demarcated.

TOURNEY RULES

There will be 16 participants, in a head to head format, 1 loss elimination tournament

Each matchup will be chosen randomly by Momentosis' NHB simulator.

Each participant is to pick the winner and rank them by most probable to win from 9-1 if there were 9 fights (9 being most probable, 1 being least). To break any ties, each participant must also pick the method (Strikes, Sub, Dec.), and round of each fight and points will be given accordingly. The person with more points at the end of the event wins the matchup.

For each tourney matchup, you must have your location (unless people would more prefer to bet sigs) available to bet. If you lose the matchup, you lose your variable until the next tourney round and get an official loss. If you win, you get a win.

After the final each person is to give their av to the winner (15 avs in total) until the next major event. YOU WILL ONLY RECEIVE ONE OFFICAL LOSS, your av will just be unavailable to you for one event. It will be pretty much paying twice for 1 loss, but if you win you get 15 avs.

SCORING: For a correct outcome prediction you will receive the number of points designated by your ranking as well as an additional 4 points for correctly predicting the winner, for instance:

If you put Mir as #9 (most confident) and he wins you will receive 9 points for ranking him most confident and 4 extra points for predicting him to win for a total of 13 points.

In the event of a tie, rounds and methods will be taken into account. For each correctly predicted fight winner, additional correct predictions for round and method of victory will be counted as 3 points each. Correct round and method predictions will not be scored for fights in which the winner was incorrectly predicted.

*The Ultimate Sherdogger*(TUS)

From the twisted mind of Hydrogen under the careful tutillage of the irishman.

The number of bettors per team will be 8 vs 8.

The TUS Season 1 coaches will be irishman and Kayo. Once the participants have entered, these bettors will be split into 2 "weight classes" randomly (HWs and LWs).

Once this split takes place, the two coaches will select teams, each team having an equal number of HWs and LWs.

Each bet thread will involve one HW matchup and one LW matchup, chosen by the teams and their respective coaches. For example, if we have only two "fights" per thread, the first week irish and his team will select the HW "fighter" and his opponent, while Kayo and his team will select the LW fighter and his opponent. The winning team retains power over choosing the next fight in the division in which they won (Ex. If Team Kayo wins the first HW matchup, they will select the participants in the next HW fight).

Each "fight" will require those involved to reserve one variable for competition, while those TUS participants not "fighting" on that card will have all variables free. The winner of a fight gets his opponents variable and an official win, while moving on to the next round. The loser gives up a variable, receives an official loss, and is out of the competition.

HERE'S THE KICKER: (as approved by irishman) At the end of TUS Season 1, the winner of the HW division will square off against the winner of the LW division for the title of #1 Contender and a shot at whichever title they choose (Sig/Av or SPC) on the following bet thread.

Scoring: The fights will be a prioritized pickem style as in the current tourney, with a correct prediction scoring an automatic 4 points for picking the winner and a bonus of whatever number the predicted fighter was ranked at, as follows:

9 Georges St. Pierre, Strikes, 2nd Round (Correct= 9 + 4 = 13)
8 Tim Sylvia, Strikes, 3rd Round
7 Brandon Vera, Decision
6 Alessio Sakara, Sub. 2nd Round
5 Joe Stevenson, Decision
4 Nick Diaz, Sub. 1st round
3 Antoni Hardonk, strikes, 3rd round
2 Jake O'Brien strikes, 1st round
1 James Irvin, Decision

As before, round and method of victory will only be used in the event of a draw.
The first fights of the first season are scheduled for UFC 66.

THE TUS 1 FIGHTER LIST IS NOW COMPLETE

SO YOU WANNA BE AN ULTIMATE SHERDOGGER!?!?

***SHERDOG PICKEM CHAMPIONSHIP***

My Fellow Sherdoggers, for far too long have Sherdog bettors been forced to travel elsewhere to engage in pickem style betting endeavors. I am proud to announce the beginning of a new era in Sherdog Betting....not only the opportunity to bet your variables in the current sig/av betting style, but a brand spankin' new thread specifically for pickem style betting...the Sherdog Pickem Championship.

And what's a new bet thread without a champion? Damn good question, and something that must be remedied on the double. Therefore, to determine our SPC Betting Champion, Sherdog will host a Come-One, Come-All Pickem Betting Extravaganza involving the 4 selected fights from the huge cards at the end of December (IFL, Hero's, UFC 66, and Shockwave). The winner of this pickem contest will be crowned the first ever SPC Champion.

After we've determined our champion, the thread will move in the direction of sig/av style challenge bets. Pickem bettors will challenge one another to pickem style bets, developing pickem records and moving closer to contendership in the new thread. Scoring, Pickem Formatting, and Contendership Criteria will be demarcated on the upcoming 4-card thread. Also, to be clear, this new thread is in no way affecting our much-beloved Sig/Av Threads...there will be no variables at stake here, the records will be kept separate, and the Sig/Av threads will continue as they always have.

Hope to see you all at the crowning moment of the Sherdog Pickem Championship!

VOTE*******VOTE********VOTE*******VOTE

I've been approached a number of times over the past couple weeks regarding the possibility of placing bets upon all 4 cards at the end of December, as they all apppear stacked and prime for betting. However, I know that the opinion on this is quite varied...so I've put a little "ballot" together for the purposes of handling this slew of potential betting cards in the most desirable way possible.

Events:
IFL (12/29)
UFC 66 (12/30)
K-1 Hero's (12/31)
Pride Shockwave (12/31)

Options to Vote On:

Option #1: Stick to the regular style, allowing only 3 (or 4 with CT) total bets on such closely-spaced events. (Potential of 3 wins overall)

Option #2: Group the four into 2 threads of 2 events each, allowing 3 bets on IFL/UFC and 3 on K-1/Pride.(Potential of 6 wins overall)

Option #2.5: Same as #2, but in the event that you lose a variable on the first thread and win that same variable on the second thread, you will need to serve the terms of the first bet until the next bet thread.

Option #3: Allow 3 bets on each event, where bettors only need to serve the terms of bets made on the final event (Shockwave). (Potential of 12 wins overall)

Option #4: Allow 3 bets on each event, but for each variable you must bet with the same opponent for every card. The winner of the bet is he who does the best overall. (Potential of 3 wins overall)

Please express your opinion on how you'd like to see this go down by posting in colored text the option you like best. I'll tally the votes at the end of the week and let you all know what we've collectively decided. Also, if there's another option you'd like added, let me know and I'll toss it up. Thanks!

I've got my Sig left to bet with, and i'd prefer best of 3's/5's for the event. PM me or reply to let me know!

::EDIT:: NHB7 - let me know if you still want to do the StrikeForce Southworth/White bet for Sig instead of Av - thanks

I'd prefer this option to be honest... it seems the most fun!

Hey Irish sorry for being a bit slow, but for options 2 + 3 how does it really work out?

Option #2: Group the four into 2 threads of 2 events each, allowing 3 bets on IFL/UFC and 3 on K-1/Pride. (Potential of 6 wins overall)

Option #3: Allow 3 bets on each event, where bettors only need to serve the terms of bets made on the final event (Shockwave). (Potential of 12 wins overall)

Like if people were to bet with different bettors for the cards, how long will the variables last? since most events only are a day between each other.

No worries mate.

With option 2, the bettors could agree on 24-hr bets, or we could all just agree that only those who lose on the second thread need to serve the sig/av sentence.

With option 3, it'd be sorta the same, where the only sig/av terms served would be those made on the final card (Shockwave).
