Masakatsu Funaki versus Bob Backlund
--for some reason, a lot of people think they were shooting on each other. I disagree wholeheartedly. Great match though.

Shoot-style pro wrestling matches are where there's still predetermined outcomes, but the match involves technique applied in a stiff or full contact manner. Realistic moves, look & such is emphasized.

Often, I think "strong style" has a greater emphasis on stiffness, whereas a lot of shoot-style work has more emphasis on technical work. For example, Fujiwara, the Funakis, etc. would deliberately but subtly take slack off of holds oft-times.

Yeah, i got you're saying.
Probably what it comes down to is who's in the ring working the match. Whether it's master technicians in there showing their grappling skills, working the match like they're putting on a clinic or it's brawlers really stiffing each other, working the match like they're seriously beating the crap outta each another. Or perhaps a combination of both.

I love this style.
But for some reason I have this sick urge to see a young Sid Eudy trying his hand at it.
I must just love pain.

Yeah. And how obnoxious the guy working the style is. Kanemoto, Inoki, Takada and maybe sometimes Suzuki come to mind.

Who would you liked to have seen Sid Vicious have a shoot-style match with? Anyone in particular?
