The real reason Machida is hated by MMAfans is because

1) most "fans" believe that asian TMA's and karate and TKD are tottally useless and some mystical fake shit that doesn't really work. a total lack of respect. even though guys like GSP and Liddell come from TMA backgrounds, they are considered wrestlers or boxers by the fans in order to discredit ASian TMA's and to credit western combat sports.

2) he is half Japanese and has Asian name. Most UFC fans hate all things Pride and Japanese and asian TMAs. Also, you must remember that Americans have been indoctrinated by the state sponsored media to think that Asians are physically inferior to whites and blacks. this goes against their basic values they were indoctrinated with.

I believe it was a judo based hip throw that involves bending the hind leg for a trip. I could be totally wrong because I've only watched the fight once and I haven't done that throw that I have in mind in at least 15 years.
