Every other fighter who runns = pussy, but when Machida runs it is technique and fluidity? eat a fucking dick man..
Kalib starnes too is a technician then.

Was Kalib Starnes landing punches and kicks the entire fight? Didnt think so. Did kalib Starnes ever take Quarry down or shrug off quarries takedown attempts with utter ease?

Nice Post-
Machida is a bad mofo.....
I expect the live crowds to boo him, just because his elusive style can be seen as "running". It would be like booing a fighter for using head movement to avoid punches. Its just Machida's style.
Machida picked Tito apart, and that Knee was fucking brutal.... I almost shit my pants when Tito pulled that Triangle.... Dana probably did too.

Lyoto is extremely intelligent and a gifted technician in the cage. He doesn't run, he game plans for each fight to work his opponents strengths and weaknesses.
People have been comparing Kalib and Lyoto and that is utterly ridiculous. Kalib ran the entire fight, Machida picked Tito apart, BIG DIFFERENCE. Lyoto is a very smart fighter with excellent technique. He approaches each fight differently depending on the opponent.
Lyoto finished Soku in his last fight and nobody was bitching about him being boring. Some people do not understand game planning for a fight. If you know that you are facing a big, strong wrestler with excellent GnP then you would be a fucking retard to get in there and be in a position to get taken down and beat on.
Lyoto was "sticking and moving" not just running. He was catching Tito with leg kicks and punches. He even opened up a cut on Tito's eye. He was able to stuff any TD attempt from Tito and counter. He even took Tito down and knocked him down.
As for not trying to finish the fight, that is complete BS.
He took him down in the 1st round and was using some pretty damn good GnP in an ATTEMPT TO FINISH the fight. The bell sounded so he didn't get to finish him.
In the 3rd round he nailed Tito with a knee to the mid section that buckled Tito big time after which Lyoto jumped on him for some GnP in AN ATTEMPT TO FINISH the fight. Tito was able to sustain the attack and get a triangle choke locked in stopping Lyoto from finishing the fight. Lyoto escaped the triangle/Tito switched to an armbar and the bell sounded.
If he was "running" the whole fight he wouldn't have been able to do any of the above. I am really starting to wonder if any of these people actually watched the fight. What did you want him to do? Let Tito take him down and GnP him?
People saying Lyoto did nothing are ignorant and/or need to remove the "I am a Tito nuthugger" glasses off and re-watch the fight.

You're post has way too much common sense in it. I don't think most people in this forum are going to agree.

you obviosuly have little understanding or appreciation for the skills of defense, elusiveness and counter-attacking.
Machida is far from boring. He is a technical fighter with great reflexes and a unique style. I think he fought great and completely outclassed Tito.
on flip side, what exactly did Tito do to make the fight entertaining?

I normally just read this forum and don't post much but some people in this thread have really irritated me for a few reasons.
In MMA you do not have to finish fights. As a fighter you work out how to beat an opponent , just as you would outwork someone in boxing over 12 rounds which I find way more boring than any MMA fight.
GSP has been critisised like this in the past also for fighting 'boring' fights, like the Koscheck fight, however there is a massive difference between being boring or unexciting to what I believe Machida and GSP are, which is just in a different technical league than there opponents. They know what they need to do to win.
Machida schooled Tito over the 3 rounds. He could have possibly finished given another 20 seconds or so in the first. He also really hurt Tito in the third with the knee.
Rather than criticising Machida for being boring, maybe it should be Tito who should be criticised. A man of his so called experience and skill should have had an answer for Machidas fighting style surely? Or maybe you have to just accept that he was light years ahead technically?!
Rather than read the fight as dull because there was no KO or sub I saw the fight as one of the best of the night. Maybe some MMA fans are just looking for the highlight reel finish though, me however I am looking to see skillful athletes show why they are at the top of there game no matter what.
