This is ridiculous...Now for the truth.
The truth is there are limitless athletes in MMA who could very well back up the entire fight and avoid any type of exchanges, then popping off a 2 strike combination every once in a great while that gets blocked but does score points...Machida does have more skill than that, but this is exactly how he chose to fight the other night....
Now while that's perfectly legal, the other athletes in the sport do realize that they will not have a very promising career in MMA if they fight like that, no matter if anyone can beat them or not....
What you all must realize is that Machida is NOT going to get a title shot anytime soon, for no other reason but because he's a very BORING fighter who plays FAR too safe. And the fact is he deserves a title shot more than anyone currently in the UFC, and that was true BEFORE and AFTER his fight with Tito....
The problem is you can't have a champion who refuses to engage, or press any action whatsoever.

I don't think Vitor's hands were lucky when he drove Wanderlei across the ring with them, and I don't think Rampage was lucky with Liddell. He saw the opening and took it. On that note, Machida is awesome and I love to watch him fight. I've always loved Bruce lee and imagined what it must have been like when he was challenged in the streets by random M.Arts masters. I feel like I'm watching the closest thing to Bruce in that of Machida. He's, in a way, the modern day Bruce, because he truly embodies the Bushido Spirit!!!
I once watched one of Alli's fights that was filmed in slow motion. This allowed me to see how incredibly gifted Alli was as every punch was dodged. In regular motion I would've thought he was catching a lot of those punches. Machida's on an equal plane here, and he's not running at all.

He is a boring fighter period! no disrespect, he fights to win not to excite the crowd and it's all good. But he's a boring fighter, there is no controversy here! every fight he's in is boring. I like the guy but he's a boring fighter. Get over it!

If you can't appreciate a fighter who has the tools to stop a murderer like Sokodju(sp) cold turkey, not to mention be the only guy besides Anderson Silva to decisively hand Rich Franklin's ass to him.
But lets ignore all this (selective memory/ignorance does sustain your arguments) Stick with the vague clichés, breaking down his fluke-like success. You can never say "evasive" or "marathon" enough. Especially when his recent "marathon" ended up in Tito's guard, raining elbows like Tito is known for. A balls-out exciting fighter like Forrest on the other hand...
Oh! but Machida didn't give Tito enough time to take him down. They only clinched, what... several times?
Basically, what the controversy comes down to is insecurities resulting from a serious lack of info on what Mixed Martial Arts truly is. Granted, Machida is not the most exciting fighter when you want to tune into a train-wreck.
Solution: You can now buy early UFC fights in bulk. You know, the days where skill, technique, athleticism, etc took a backseat to recklessness. The days where the fighters you most likely root for reigned supreme.
Sorry Machida isn't your cup-o-tea, but considering his track record against s-k-i-l-l-e-d fighters, you're going to be bitching and moaning for a while.

Well said! True sig.
