I think Machida is a boring fighter and don't care to see him fight again.

Machida was close to finishing in the first round.

Liking or disliking Machida is a matter of opinion and nt MMA knowledge superiority. Some fans prefer more aggression, this is why I love Andreson so much, his striking is beautiful but it's also deadly, he continuously moves foward and goes for the kill.
In my opinion Machida is a poor man's Cung Le, but again, that's only MY opinion.

I dont think you can compare machida to cung lee because no one that i ever saw fighting cung lee ever tried to take him down, what the elvis sinosic fight, elvis is a grappler and he stood with cung lee, machida played his game against grapplers and strikers avoided their takedows or when he went down with them defended them well, cung lee puts on a good show... but he is no where near doing what machida does.
backpedaling is going back, machida circles his oponnents and strikes when their guard is down, he avoids takedowns very well and he can takedown people without using what most fighters do on takedowns, and thats his key feature: he surprises everybody because no one trained for what he does, tma with bjj and sumo!
machida his complete, uses a style that could easily be transfered into self defense or "street fighting" and so far he is all w's i know most of you probably prefer slugfests but you just have to look at tank abbot these days and see whats left...
there will never be a division full of machidas, so far he is unique, diferent style, diferent aproach, but even if there was it would be still a lot better than a division full with lnp'ers, wall and staller's, etc.

He most likely didn't realize that his knee to the body did that kind of damage. We get endless angles from high and low that they don't get when they are right in eachothers faces. You must remember that. In every fight we always see something they don't, and if they was watching us fight from their tvs then they would see the same thing. Machida isn't a coward as we all know, and if he thought he could put you away he would. He must have been confused as to what Ortiz was doing.

you are right, there was a gif out there somewer in wich a guy faked he was hurt by a body shot and when the other guys rushed in for the finish he punched him in the face and it was all over, machida is smarter than that... especally against a vet (like him or not) like tito.

OMG YOU'RE A VET!! what the hell did that have to do with your thread. Congrats on joining the military to further yourself. Why did you include this in the title. I skimmed your thread and saw nothing of how being a vet should shed different light onto machida.

If you can't appreciate a fighter who has the tools to stop a murderer like Sokodju(sp) cold turkey, not to mention be the only guy besides Anderson Silva to decisively hand Rich Franklin's ass to him.
But lets ignore all this (selective memory/ignorance does sustain your arguments) Stick with the vague clichés, breaking down his fluke-like success. You can never say "evasive" or "marathon" enough. Especially when his recent "marathon" ended up in Tito's guard, raining elbows like Tito is known for. A balls-out exciting fighter like Forrest on the other hand...
Oh! but Machida didn't give Tito enough time to take him down. They only clinched, what... several times?
Basically, what the controversy comes down to is insecurities resulting from a serious lack of info on what Mixed Martial Arts truly is. Granted, Machida is not the most exciting fighter when you want to tune into a train-wreck.
Solution: You can now buy early UFC fights in bulk. You know, the days where skill, technique, athleticism, etc took a backseat to recklessness. The days where the fighters you most likely root for reigned supreme.
Sorry Machida isn't your cup-o-tea, but considering his track record against s-k-i-l-l-e-d fighters, you're going to be bitching and moaning for a while.

Yawn. Awesome that you refer to yourself as a 'vet' too, man. You must have a lot going for yourself in life.
