I think Machida is a boring fighter and don't care to see him fight again.

Whats to praise MAchida for? ... he doesnt sustan damage in a fight, is that his big upside?
Sorry bro, but guys like Fedor, Anderson, GSP, BJ Penn, Randy couture, and Cro Cop are all examples of guys that routinley give us GREAT fights via demonstrating athletism, skill, and cereberal capacity *and avoiding damage themselves* BUT they also have killer instinct, which is something you cannot teach.
Machida is essentially like the 'tough' nerd in school ... he will beat you bad enough to protect himself and maybe dent your pride, then back off.
Not every fighter has to be Wandy, but his pitter patter style, flat personality, and disregard to learning english IMO might just make him more despised that Tim Sylvia was.
|
i agree with what you said besides the personality and english thing. If machida completley outclassed tito then why did he have to evade him so long? why did he almost get submitted? why did he NOT FINISH HIM? Machida is a great fighter no doubt but he is no Legend like Fedor Nog or Crocop

I think the controversy is that he's boring, no doubt about that but watching him destroy Soko gave everyone what they wanted out of him.
Machida's definitely got skill, he's just gotta be a little more aggressive. Because when he's aggressive, he's one of the best to watch.

Not everyone has KO power like Chuck Liddell....what's wrong with that? What matters is how he dominated Tito...dominated the stand-up...stuffed all of a bigger LHW's shots...took him down at will........

I like machida man....he is stopping once dominant fighters in their tracks....guys who dominated years ago or just one fight ago are looking like amateurs against him....and when you watch his fights it doesnt even look like he does anything amazing but the end result is still a beating for his opponent....the only person to even come close to beating him is BJ....machida will be a problem for anyone not sure why he hasnt gotten a title shot yet.....

Goju Ryu eh? Do you think Yamaguchi-sama would agree with you about your take on fighting? I don't think so. Fighting isn't what you say it is, and only a complete fool would agree with you. IF you have the means to avoid being hit, then you do it. Should Machida have stood there in front of Tito just for you and all the other naysayers, letting him land combos, just to satisfy you? How fucking retarded would that be?
The only reasons anyone gets hit in a fight is 1)they didn't see it coming, 2)they were too slow to evade or 3)they were too STUPID to evade.
1 and 2 are excusable. 3 just leads to low level brain damage.

If you can't appreciate a fighter who has the tools to stop a murderer like Sokodju(sp) cold turkey, not to mention be the only guy besides Anderson Silva to decisively hand Rich Franklin's ass to him.
But lets ignore all this (selective memory/ignorance does sustain your arguments) Stick with the vague clichés, breaking down his fluke-like success. You can never say "evasive" or "marathon" enough. Especially when his recent "marathon" ended up in Tito's guard, raining elbows like Tito is known for. A balls-out exciting fighter like Forrest on the other hand...
Oh! but Machida didn't give Tito enough time to take him down. They only clinched, what... several times?
Basically, what the controversy comes down to is insecurities resulting from a serious lack of info on what Mixed Martial Arts truly is. Granted, Machida is not the most exciting fighter when you want to tune into a train-wreck.
Solution: You can now buy early UFC fights in bulk. You know, the days where skill, technique, athleticism, etc took a backseat to recklessness. The days where the fighters you most likely root for reigned supreme.
Sorry Machida isn't your cup-o-tea, but considering his track record against s-k-i-l-l-e-d fighters, you're going to be bitching and moaning for a while.

I think machida will always be one of the best fighters but he will definitely never have the most fans....if he went in like a monster similar to huerta...he may have a few more fans.....but even huerta is hated on badly....really you cant please everyone....people will find something to complain about either way....machida is great

Machida is a good fighter who isn't exciting.I can't expect people to want to watch Machida. Ive seen my share of defensive boxers with more timing and reflexes and skill than Machida.
