your thread is pointless. people have said machida is good at what he does and nobody discounts what fighters he has beaten.
However MMA is not boxing and machida is far from showing the sweet science of defensive fighting ala hopkins or PBF, roy jones etc etc. Machida fights a karate points style fight that is not very fun for anyone to watch.
When a fight is over you want to say that was a great fight and X fighter deserves to win. Machidas fight against tito really didnt make me think gee machida REALLY deserved that win.
Had this fight taken place in PRIDE or DREAM its possible we could have seen tito win the fight for the fact he was moving forward the whole time and was the closest of the two for ending the fight. That being said im not saying the decision was wrong i am simply saying mma is a different sport then boxing or port style karate.
PBF gets the same amount of criticism in boxing as machida is getting in mma. and PBF is considered the #1 P4P boxer. Even analysist are very hard on PBF so stop whining about people being judgemental of machida.
HE IS BORING, he fights a very boring fight to not lose and takes 0 risk in trying to beat his opponent.
Im sure the ufc wouldnt mind machida losing a few fights and giving him the okami speech.

Believe it or not, MMA is both entertainment and a sport...I know many people can't get their heads around that. why would someone bother watching football if it was boring?

The thread was fine until you and your ilk joined the fray. That's the only source of ignorance, you fucking idiot.
Machida kicked Tito in the head how many times, through his guard? Didn't he drop Tito with a fucking BODY SHOT of all things? Dropped one of the true kings of conditioning, with a body shot. Yeah, lacking in power. The man bent over backwards to win the fight. Literally. He was bent over backwards in a wrestler's bridge on his head and used his hips to spin out of a triangle. You ever seen that reversal before?
The TS has it dead to rights. You say Machida is boring, all you do is showcase your own stupidity. Twain had a great saying about shit like that, you might want to look it up.

Exactly, Soko had 2 big wins coming in, and Tito doesnt need marketing. Machida needs a big name because hes the boring karate guy. Piss and moan all you want people, that is how the casual fans will see him. People enjoy KOs, they enjoy submissions, they enjoy wars on the feet and ground, but people do not enjoy fighting for a decision

not fun for anyone eh? i thought his fight was the best on the card. AND, i'd say 70 percent of people on here find him entertaining. it's just the 30 percent who don't absolutely despise him. You should. uhh, try to stay away form those absolutes.

dude, you are comparing Ali to Machida? are you smoking crack? Ali was knocking people out.. in other words finishing fights, and the fights that did go to decision where hard fought battles. you cant compare these two guys.. be for real..
while Machida does have a great style to which every MMA fighter will need to train to fight, but lets face the facts, the average fan buys ppv "NOT ALL" but A lot of them. which leaves you who happens to be an expert in analyzing fights along with everyone else that thinks Machida sells PPV by himself.. Let him Fight top 10 fighters first, he beat Tito, who is not a top 10 fighter and now everyone is screaming for a title shot? how does that make him a top 10? he has not lost a fight you might say... well Rashad Evans hasnt lost a fight and is a boring fighter as well but he wont be getting a title shot either.. Either way, I want to see how this is going to play out for UFC and what decision Dana White is going to make.

Have u ever been hit where tito got hit when he felt? ur post suggest no, i've been hit in that region & believe me u don't need to put power on ur knee to drop someone if u reach that specific region, the guy that hit me didn't do it on purpose & i couldn't breath, speak & move for like 5 minutes...
anyway, a question to Machida fans :
Do you watch Curling? It's a sport... If u don't watch curling tell me why & the REAL reason

If you can't appreciate a fighter who has the tools to stop a murderer like Sokodju(sp) cold turkey, not to mention be the only guy besides Anderson Silva to decisively hand Rich Franklin's ass to him.
But lets ignore all this (selective memory/ignorance does sustain your arguments) Stick with the vague clichés, breaking down his fluke-like success. You can never say "evasive" or "marathon" enough. Especially when his recent "marathon" ended up in Tito's guard, raining elbows like Tito is known for. A balls-out exciting fighter like Forrest on the other hand...
Oh! but Machida didn't give Tito enough time to take him down. They only clinched, what... several times?
Basically, what the controversy comes down to is insecurities resulting from a serious lack of info on what Mixed Martial Arts truly is. Granted, Machida is not the most exciting fighter when you want to tune into a train-wreck.
Solution: You can now buy early UFC fights in bulk. You know, the days where skill, technique, athleticism, etc took a backseat to recklessness. The days where the fighters you most likely root for reigned supreme.
Sorry Machida isn't your cup-o-tea, but considering his track record against s-k-i-l-l-e-d fighters, you're going to be bitching and moaning for a while.

Well said Sam. I agree 100%
