I think Machida is a boring fighter and don't care to see him fight again.

I don't see what the big deal is. He is what he is. Don't care.

With his upset over sokoudjou i'd have to say that he will be a contender in the 205 division.

I don't think he could beat Rampage or shogun. I personally don't think Tito is a top level fighter anymore so I would hate to see that match. I would like to see him fight Jardine.

It's not the style itself. God, it's NEVER been the styles themselves that make people the most effective, it's their proficiency with their chosen styles. He's been practicing his art since he was a toddler. Very few(if ANY) MMArtists can make the same claim about any particular Martial Art that goes into their own style. Sure, Randy and some of the other good wrestlers who've been around a while have been wrestling for 20 years, but the difference is that Machida was instilled with knowledge and skill during his developmental childhood years, much like Tiger Woods, or the (blech)Williams sisters.
So, will Machida be the one who finally shuts up all the ignorant fucks who STILL claim traditional martial arts are useless?

When his speed goes, I think his game is pretty much over. Hopefully he gets his title shot before then!

That's a rather broad and incorrect statement to make. You've never been around an old, accomplished Karateka.

That fight wont happen. Both are training partners and belong to the same team

Agreed that speed, reaction time, and timing are the first to go. However, if you use, say....Liddell as a yard stick, he's still got enough of it at almost 40, and he takes MUCH more damage in his fights than Machida does.
I think that Machida will be able to retain much of his proficiency in those particular abilities because he takes so little damage in his fights. Now, if he starts taking beatings, that may shorten the expectation, but I don't really see that being an issue yet.
Even so, he's got a decade left on his career before he needs to start worrying about age diminishing those abilities anyway.

In my OP, I clearly state that I think that he will be considered to be an extremely important fighter in the history of MMA, exactly for that reason. But he's not the only one. Cung Le is doing it, too....and we're going to see more and more as time passes.

WOW!!...quite a long, but good read.....
Maybe if Dana and Zuffa stop playing Reality TV games with the Titles and Belts, he will get the shot he deserves....it's just plain silly and bad for MMA that Rampage won't be defending the title before summer.....it seems like everything is tied to TUF these days....don't get me wrong I like the show and give it all the credit it deserves for skyrocketing the sport.....BUT, I'm not with linking it to the Titles.... for any division....IMHO.......
