fighting defensively and only doing enough to win decisions but not finish your opponent makes you a boring fighter. period. doesn't matter if you are a wrestler or a striker. he was handily winning the standup and could have afforded to be more aggressive, especially later in the fight when it was clear tito wasn't going to take him down.

a question for those of you who are so amazed with machida's virtuosity: what was the most exciting part of that fight? why?

the answer, if you are being honest, was the triangle attempt, because SOMETHING was actually happening worth getting excited for, and it wasn't lyoto's effort.

He couldn't it seemed like his strikes weren't strong enough to finish Tito.

if he triangled him, he would have won. He ATTEMPTED a triangle and it was slick, but it didn't finish the fight. Your use of "If he had" and "Machida would have" just shows you're reaching.
