Need help blasting Aikido
Hey guys, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum.
A good friend of mine is an Aikido stylist. I'm a Muai Thai, Greco-Roman, BJJ guy. This friend is pretty bright but he doesn't follow MMA at all and thinks that Aikido is the be all, end all of hand to hand combat. Basically he thinks that no one is successful with Aikido in MMA because certain strikes in Aikido would be illegal in MMA. Like throat/groin strikes, etc.
We've spared before, I only used my Muai Thai (we were fighting on concrete) and I destroyed him. 2 mins into it, all the Aikido stances and moves where totally gone.
He still doesn't believe me though. So anyone out there can help me convince my friend that he's wasting his time in a big way?
Anyone with some serious advice?

He can't be too bright if you kicked his ass for two mins (and not to mention UNDER) and he still doesn't get it, now can he?

he is only wasting his time if he is learning aikido as a serious fighting art. It offers much more though

Can an MMA guy destroy an aikido guy? Yeah, probably. But aikido can be very effective against untrained people, and has the added benefit of not hurting them that much when you neutralize them. It's taught to cops in a lot of places for that reason.
People also need to understand that different people train MA for different reasons.
Is your friend living in a fantasy world where aikido is the key to HtH combat? Maybe. But there's something a little silly and a little pathological about MMA people who get so angry about what other people believe. Suggestion: get angry at Creationists or those Global Warming denial folk. They are causing much more trouble than Mr. Dim Mak.

Dude, shove your hakama up your ass.
Aikido is useless against anyone whos wrist isnt made of spaghetti.
Training MA, for self defense is as dumb as shit. Get a gun and some friends, thats real self defense.
People who train aikido do so because they are tree loving hippy douche bags. I guess you are one as well.
