If someone "evaded" as the boxer does in that video, they'd get taken down constantly, and probably catch a TON more knees to the head.
Well the point is that Machida is not elusive.

Yes, its harder to be elusive in mma than in boxing, but elusive is still not what Machida is

Who cares... running away or elusive. It's not going to change the opinion of people who like him or not. People who like him think he's elusive and ones who don't say he's running away.

Leave it alone.
Get over it.
thanks

I agree the "Elusive" tag is wrong as Machida doesn't dodge alot of strikes in close range(though he does some). What I would call him is "evasive" in that he uses in and out and lateral movment & good timing to hit his opponent then move away continously.

Running is when a fighter turns his back on another in order to run the other direction from them like for ex. Tito VS Wandy or Kalib Vs Quarry which isn't what Machida does in his fights.

I think if Machida learned to throw combos with some power when he moved in and out this wouldn't be an issue with some people.

and Joe Rogan and everyone else calls him elusive as well instead of calling it what it is which is running away. i just wanted to clear that up for everyone. and i have no problem with machida, i don't mind his fights but he is not elusive.

actually its alot harder to be elusive in boxing because they take points away for not being aggresive, not too mention in boxing their hand speed is on a completely different level.

You posted the exact GIF I thought of when wondering who in MMA has ever done that like a boxer. Anderson Silva for 2 seconds

Elusive for dodging strikes, evasive for moving away from them? That's an arbitrary distinction, since the words are synonyms. You won't find it in the dictionary.
