Before Johnson threw his illegal knee, he poked Koscheck in the eye with his thumb. Then when Johnson kneed him, he took the time to recover his eye.

You cannot 'poke' yourself in the eye with your forearm. It was a poke to the eye just b4 the knee. regardless, as you said, He deservedly got his 5 min to recover.

I can't believe you are actually refuting the GIF.
His thumb hits Kos's nose, and then it bends DOWN.
You can SEE KOS'S EYE the entire time. The thumb goes no where near it.
