This whole disrespect issue between Randy and the UFC is really silly if you ask me. What a lot of people don't realize is after the Gonzaga fight, Randy's head grew extremely large, and for good reason. He did the impossible...TWICE and with precise domination both times. No matter what the UFC was giving him would not have been enough. The UFC is a business behind the scenes. they want the talent and make deals with the fighters to obtain their services for the least amount of money they can get away with. This is not "cheap" or "disrespectful", it's smart business. If Randy was unhappy with the contract they offered him then he should have said something about it and tried to negotiate a better contract. the reason he took it was because he was not a highly regarded fighter before the Tim Sylvia fight because he was coming off back to back losses to Chuck Liddell and his last few performances in the HW division were losses to Josh Barnett and Ricco Rodriguez. Breaching your contract because your boss didn't give you a nice big present after you did well is just childish and ridiculous if you ask me. The UFC has no obligation to give out a bonus after a fight. They probably figured Randy didn't need it. He makes a fortune in his other endeavors and business. The UFC gives out the bonus's to the guys that need it, the fighters they want to be able to train full time, so they give them a nice bonus so they can focus on the sport and continue to offer great performance inside the octagon. Randy couture doesn't need that. He just wanted it. I respect Randy Couture as a fighter endlessly and I can't wait to see him fight again, especially if it's Fedor, I just wish he didn't make the decisions he's made over the past six months. He's in the wrong and he and the fans are suffering because of it. And no one can blame the UFC at the end of the day. They made a deal and Randy couture accepted it. I only hope when all this is said and done that the fans aren't the ones left empty handed. We'll have to wait and see.

Specifically, Judge Togliatti agreed that it appeared Couture had violated his non-compete agreement with Zuffa by promoting the International Fight League’s (IFL) upcoming event to be staged Friday, February 29, 2008.
Judge Togliatti also granted Zuffa’s request to immediately conduct a deposition examination of Couture regarding other claimed violations of his one year non-compete agreement.
Zuffa attorneys, Donald Campbell and Colby Williams, stated they look forward to examining Couture under oath regarding what they termed “Couture’s chronic and brazen violations of his contractual obligations to Zuffa.”

Randy gets what he deserves. HA HA.

This is not the big thing, if you read the article you will understand. The big rulings between Randy and Zuffa are yet to come.
Do you want the Fedor vs Randy fight?
If you do you should support Randy...

From Sherdog's frontpage:
"Zuffa won the first battle in its ongoing war with Randy Couture (Pictures) yesterday, as Judge Jennifer Togliatti granted the company a preliminary injunction barring Randy Couture (Pictures)'s participation in the International Fight League's event Friday in Las Vegas.
"Randy Couture (Pictures) is enjoined from engaging in any promotion or production of events or programming related to unarmed combat during the February 29, 2008 event," according to the minutes of the hearing.
The victory, however, was a shallow one, as the court noted that many of the issues regarding Couture's involvement in the event had become moot. As Sherdog.com reported Thursday night, prior to the ruling the IFL agreed remove "Xtreme Couture" from the event, including any references on its Web site, as a professional courtesy to Couture. In an amended affidavit filed yesterday with the court, Couture further stated that he had no intention of attending the event.
The injunction is exceedingly narrow, applying only to tonight's card at the Orleans Arena. The parties will be back in court on March 6 for a discovery hearing."
TS is essentially gloating over a trivial "victory" for Zuffa. Why he would want to nuthug Zuffa is beyond me.

I hope this all gets settled already. I think what Zuffa is doing is ridiculous.

So the UFC can potentially destroy a highlight end to the rather storied career of one of their former icons...
Regardless of whether they may be legally right in taking exception to Couture refusing his last two contractual fights, their actions are not something to trumpet to the masses.
Fans want to see fights, not legal maneuvers and their actions are indeed keeping a potential fan favorite fight from happenings. That's all that matters or should matter to fans of the sport.
