Hughes is too strong for his size..him vs. Sak?

I've been watching Hughes fights and he's super strong for his size. Is that his normal weight or did he cut down in weight?

Also, I'm interested in what you guys think if he fought Sakuraba in his prime. It'd be an interesting match since they're both wrestlers.

Hughes is over 190lbs when he steps into the octagon. He cuts all that weight to compete at welterweight.

He's not over 190 at fight time. Probably more like 185-190. He doesn't put on over 20lbs in a day of water.

I still think Hughes > Saku...of course, Saku could probably sub him if he slipped up, but look at the Silva and Arona fights. A big, strong grappler can overpower Saku and resist his sub attempts.

If the fight happened back in the day, Saku by sub. Nowadays, I think Hughes is too good at grappling to get subbed by anyone that's not as strong or stronger than him (in an MMA match, before you start flaming).

Hughes would submit him by smothering Sak with the side of his anabolic jaw.

Hughes is very strong though. This almost cost him in his match against Carlos Newton. Newton had him in a triangle, and Matt picked him up. Instead of slamming him right then and there, he carried Newton across the ring, rested him against the side of the octagon, and then slammed Newton... while he was unconscious. Hughes was out just as much as Newton was, and didn't even know he had won the fight until the blood started to reach his brain again.
