Dana didn't let him go. The UFC, by all accounts, tried very very hard to get Fedor.
The two parties just could not come to an agreement. I don't blame the UFC, I don't blame Fedor.
It's a simple conflict of interests. If sucks for the fans, but both parties had to do what was right by them. Fedor doesn't need the UFC, and unfortunately, for the casual fan, the UFC does not need Fedor.
It sure does suck.
