It's not a bad argument. He's one of the rare fighters who is willing to move weights and fight. You have to give someone props for doing that.

personally I think BJ deserves it more than anybody else, beyond that everything is personal opinion.

...but also, who the fuck cares? Everyone in the heavies is so concerned with stupid, useless lists and get all riled up when someone doesn't agree. They don't matter, and the p4p list matters even less.
Penn was out of shape and gave GSP the beating of his life before he gassed, he beat hughes and dominated him for two rounds until he gassed / broke his rib ( BJ "I could barely breathe") His best fighting shape is 162 pounds..which means he only cuts 7 pounds to make lightweight, and he was fighting guys who cut 15 pounds of weight to make the 170 pound limit. Guys like gsp and hughes who are considered the best in their weight class, and BJ is hanging with them and beating them while being outweighed by like 20 pounds.

He submitted blue belts in BJJ competitions as a white belt
He attained a black belt in jiu jitsu in 3 years, and was the first person to win the mundials who wasn't brazilian.

He has done so much in this sport, and it seems almost like people are forgetting that based on personal opinion about BJ.

I am a huge BJ Penn fan, but I've got him under Ando like everyone else in P4P. I do have him as my #2 though

RIGHT !

The real way to end the P4P debate is to recognise that the P4P debate sucks !

Read the last thread about p4p king or whatever : nobody can give a satisfying def of p4p and nobody can tell how to deal with the "Do not take weight into account" think.
Reminds me some "Bruce Lee would ..." threads...

No offence there. Think what you want.

1/10.

NO! I love BJ, he's sooo talented, but the guy hasnt' won three fights in a row for years. He lost the BJ Penn and GSP...and there's nooo way he can be ranked highter on a P4P scale when GSP and Anderson have won soo many fights as of late.

Anderson is just destroying everyine, and finishing everyone. GSP has won his last 9 out of 10 fights, and most against top compitition in dominating fashion.

If BJ continues to win fights the way he's been fighting, maybe he will get that top stop.
'
we'll see....

Hendo won 2 titles in different weight classes and is the only man to hold two major titles in two separate weight classes at the same time. He's also fought against HWs and has beaten some. He fought in 3 different weight classes. He even has a W over Big Nog, which is much more impressive than a decision loss over Machida.

See what I did there?

TS is delusional if they think they can end a P4P debate with such a poorly thrown together argument.

Everyone here thinks Machida is overrated anyway... so by that alone, your logic fails.

The term is completely subjective. It can't be quantified. there is no pound 4 pound number 1, there are only great fighters.

And anyway it's Fedor.
