He sounds like he hasn't seen a UFC event in 10 years... and like his job is threatened by the very existence of MMA.

This argument makes no sense. Why would MMA fans use brain injuries to bash boxing? All you are doing is setting MMA up for a bigger problem when brain injuries make there way to MMA. Wake up people, boxing has been around forever and this shit happens and it will in MMA one day too. No matter what you self proclaimed doctors say.

This has to be the most retarded statement I have ever read. That's like saying leave the boxers punches in and they would still never stand a chance in MMA.

Fans and athletes that participate in the sport are two different things.

A man that made his career earnings participating in boxing would feel somewhat slighted by the fact that boxing is a shell of its former self, while MMA is booming.

(American) Fans of all combat sports are usually outspoken and vulgar regardless of the situation. MMA fans outnumber boxers prolly 1000-to-1, so its pretty obvious why they're heard more loudly.

Good enough for you, young grasshopper?

I can understand where Barry is coming from. I love MMA and Boxing and to me its not a choice between the two. I like what both sports offer and MMA can never replace my love of boxing or vice versa. While I am excited by Mirko v Fedor for all its attributes this doesnt replace the excitement of De La Hoya v Mayweather. One things which annoys me is MMA fans banging the drum of "MMA is killing boxing, boxing is dead" etc. This is pure garbage and the figures for boxing prove this yet tunnel vision MMA fans think otherwise.

The only thing in boxing which disappoints me is the HW division. The sport needs strong HW's regardless of how good the other divisions are.
