Here's what I mean. I've seen a ton of threads that read "Is Crocop done?", "Crocop Sucks", etc and it's all based on two fights. These morons completely ignore the fighter's past and just look at the present. Same with Couture, people are going to tell me he's #1? How the hell can people call themselves true fans of the sport and say that Couture is #1? I love Randy just as much as anyone else but we have to be realistic.

Crocop's record: 22-6
Randy's record: 16-8

But people can't see that? If Crocop won his last 2 fights and Randy lost his, how would the bandwagon look then? Let me guess "Crocop > Fedor" or "Randy is too old, he sucks"

And what happened to the Chuck Liddel bangwagon, haven't seen a thread lately about him being the best? Or what about Gonzaga, all the sudden the "Gonzaga is Fedor's biggest threat" threads are gone? What happened?

True fans support their fighter through both wins and losses, not to just go with the latest craze.

I don't do that, and I don't think most people on here think like that either. Some do, but IMO the majority that post that shit are trolls. This forum has become shit because like 30% of the posters here do nothing but troll.

band wagon jumping? I don't like band wagon jumpers either. But seriously after 2 very convincing losses and just how Mirko acted how can you say he's not very close to being done with fighting?

After 2 incredibly convincing losses against lesser competition and one ridiculous win over a can. Mirko looks like he is done and ready to say goodbye. I don't know think this is band wagon jumping. He won 3 fights to win the OWGP should we have not said anything about him being a good fighter back then b/c it was only 3 fights?

Not me. I've been on the Cro Cop, Wanderlei, and GSP bandwagon before they all got KOed back to back and I'm still on. It seems GSP is now somewhat back. I'm still waiting for CC and Wand.

You won't have to worry to long, the CC and Wandy wagon's will always be alive... As bad as it looks.

Trying surviving on the old Rampage wagon, or the current Hughes one. *sigh* ..I know these Hughes fans will be back, and I will smite them for ditching me!!

The people who jump ship are people who were never that big of fans in the first place.

I always thought Cro Cop was a great fighter, but I never really was a huge fan of his. When he lost back to back I started questioning his skills because of the way he lost. I also lost considerable interest in his next fight. But that's because I'm not a huge Cro Cop fan and never was.

Now take a guy like Spencer Fisher who I am a HUGE fan of. When he lost to Hermes Franca, I was disappointed for sure, but I was still a big Spencer Fisher fan and probably always will be.

Not everyone is or was a Cro Cop fan. A lot of us are just passive observers becoming less convinced in a fighter's skills.

I'm not sure if theres a TRUE mma fan, but that all depends. St. Pierre is my favorite fighter of all mma. Period. Nothings gonna change that. Yeah, in each division theres a fighter i like, but i wouldnt call them my favorites. i like vera in heavywieght, but say if he was to fight fedor, why the hell wouldnt i think fedor was going to win? I'm not a huge fedor fan, but i just honestly think he is the best heavyweight in the world. considering i like Vera more, i'd cheer if he won, but why would i think he could beat fedor? And I'm not saying fedor's unbeatable either. thats kind of an extreme example, but i just pick who i think will win the fight, regardless if i like the other guy better. Now is that what it takes to be a true mma fan? i dont know, cause theres some guys i'll pick to lose no matter what, like koscheck or leben, just cause i hate those guys attitude. I'm not saying there the most terrible fighters in mma either. Koscheck is an excellent wrestler and leben has a aggresive style with a hard-ass head. I used to like Matt serra but i figured he would lose to my boy GSP and was crushed when he lost. but come on, Serra won the title in April and he doesnt fight until december? I know alot of it has to do with TUF, but shit man you gotta defend that belt atleast a minimum of three times a year in my POV. If there was time when fighters would fight three times in a night, is it really asking too much for a minimum of three title defenses a year if your the champ?

I believe in one of the other million threads on this topic, someone else put it best:
a TRUE mma fan doesn't just hug the nuts of one fighter, a true mma fan watches it for the fights.

So bandwagon or not, nuthuggers aren't TRUE fans of the *sport*. I think the TS is more addressing "true fans of fighters" more than those that are fans of the sport.
